It would depend on what the drive was like and how much I enjoyed my job.
If I were having to fight big-city traffic jams every morning and evening - It would get really old, really quickly.
If it were a non-stressful drive that took me to a job that I loved, a 40% increase in pay would be well worth it.
I currently drive about 35 miles one way. I would gladly drive 60 miles for a 40% increase.

70 miles each way.
It tests your sanity when the traffic is bad. Usually, it's an hour and 10 minutes each way and it isn't that bad.

Used to drive 85 miles one way (170 miles total) for nearly two years. It wasn't bad for about a month or so but then it got to the point where I just couldn't wait for the weekend, even more than usual. Eventually, it started to make me hate my job because I was exhausted all of the time. Finally I had enough and found a job with a 10 mile one way.

I've drive 66 miles each way. I work shift so its not more than 2-3 days in a row. Where I live you are either a logger or a chicken farmer so the drive makes sense for me. The place we live more than makes up for the drive. The worst part is getting up in the morning.

I did it for a year and a half (NOLA to BR). I would do it in a second for a 40% raise.

I have a co worker that makes a 50 mile drive each way. He gets to work from home 2 or 3 days a week so it is worth it to him. I couldnt imagine doing it everyday

I have been driving 100 miles round trip every day for over a decade. I hated it for the first year or so, dealt with it the next several years, and then after about 5 years, I didn't bother me at all.
I get paid roughly $15 to $20K more a year for doing this, and to me, it is well worth the additional cost of $3-4K a year in gas, and the little extra for vehicle maintenance.
I don't look at it as having to drive extra miles to go to work, it is more like they are paying me the extra salary for driving on the clock (easy money).

I had a 50 minute one-way commute for about ten years. It was nice, my cell phone didn't work until the closer-to-work half of the commute so I could plan my day on the way in and decompress on the way home.

I drive 65 miles one way Monday - Friday. It takes me 50 minutes. It helps me prepare for work and gives me time to get work out of my system before I get home. I moved to my small ranch where I get to raise trophy rams, Axis, Fallow, Black Buck Antelope and Whitetail Deer. I moved without any type of raise. I drive through farm land with very little traffic lights with the speed limits mostly set at 75 mph. Best move ever and I got rid of cable, Internet and city taxes. I rarely listen to the radio. I put in a Bible CD to listen to as I drive to help relax me if I encounter poor drivers.

It honestly depends on how much traffic there is.
I used to commute 50 miles to work but there was never any traffic. Nice peaceful ride.
Now I'm commuting 16 miles to work but traffic is a nightmare. Takes anywhere from 35 minutes to an hour and a half. Usually something like 45 minutes.
It is the traffic more than the distance that will frustrate you.

It's not a commute if you're not driving. I ride a van into work daily from The Woodlands to downtown Houston. I've been doing this for years. No big deal at all. I get to catch up on my sleep, read, or whatever I want.

That's the difference from what I had to deal with. My 85 mile one way was about 25 miles highway travel, then 60 miles of back roads. Took around 2 hours one way. It sucked. Had it been all highway travel, I probably wouldn't have hated it so much.

30 miles each way, but I work 6-3. Never hit traffic and love my job

I drive 70 miles each way a day. No big deal mostly interstate.

I did about 70 miles one way from Lafayette to Baton Rouge for about 4 years. I didn't mind it really, except when there was a wreck on 10 over the Atchafalaya.

I did 200 miles a day for 8 months until I could sell my house and the wife's contract with her job expired. I had a love/hate relationship with it. Not enough time home with the family, tired on weekends. I wasn't nearly making enough to justify it but it was a good job and I knew it was temporary.
50 miles for 40% more? If it's mostly interstate or moving highway, I'd say go for it.
Job 1 was 2 miles away- got laid off
Job 2 was 100 miles away until we moved, then about 10 miles for about the same money, til job 3 hit me with an offer
Job 3 now is 70% more money than job 1, I've relocated and now think getting laid off was the best thing that ever happened to me
TLDR? If the commute is the only thing scaring you, you never know what is around the corner unless you start down the path
