Postpaid gets priority if there is heavy traffic.

I'm curious if there is really that noticable of a difference?

ETA: I'm not taking about those Walmart plans. verizonwireless.com

I'm on straight talk which uses Verizon towers. Price is right but I can be standing right next to someone. They have reception, I don't. Doesn't happen everywhere, but there are places.

I use Total Wireless. It's prepaid and the network is excellent.

Prepaid wireless is markedly cheaper... isn't anything paid for up front cheaper?

Not sure how this is trashy. I have a 790 FICO score but I don't just throw it around for shite I can easily afford.

Credit not an issue. I'm just trying to cut monthly expenses

I switched to it and haven’t noticed a difference. Wish I’d known about it sooner.

I think some of you are misunderstanding what the OP is talking about.
I went to the Verizon store to see if there were any better deals. The lady suggested I go with the Pre-Pay plan. It knocked my bill down $15.00 a month. Same service (UT and UT) and they added 1 gig of data and roll over for data. All I know it is deducted out of my checking account on the 1st..like the old plan. Same coverage..

I currently have prepaid AT&T.

I went with AT&T over Verizon because Verizon didn't/doesn't allow you to use your phone as a hotspot when you have a prepaid plan (I'm not sure if that's still accurate or not). My bill, with tax, is $44.80 per month for 8GB of data. Could be cheaper with other carriers, but I'm happy enough with AT&T.

I have both. One(prepaid) for work and a plan for personal. I need to be available at random hours and the prepaid allows only my employer to call while my personal is on “Do Not Disturb”.

I have noticed no difference but don’t really use the prepaid enough.

I can't tell a difference.

Save $5/month if you use autopay.

I'm surprised you can get Verizon on your Obama phone.

Pre paid plans use the same towers as the regular plans, but the regular plans get priority speeds so you may see a little slower load times when using data. More people that are low data uses should be on prepaid plans as they are much cheaper.

I have Straight Talk using Verizon Towers. 52 dollars a month with 25GB.

I did notice a difference in service.

One thing that I can point to is the fact that I am using an older phone, an iPhone 6.

I do know that Verizon is in the process of shutting down its CDMA network (1x or 3G Service) in favor of LTE only service.

I don't know if they shifted some frequencies to newer LTE bonded connections, but I am noticing more drops to 3G and 1x service in more rural areas. That really concerns me once they switch to LTE only.

I have two plans for working along the coast. ATandT for main phone. I had a Verizon hot spot with 5 gig for $50. Switched to Verizon prepaid. Same cost but upped to 7 gig with rollover. Depending on which has the best signal I use one for a hotspot and surf on the other. Never regretted it.

Visible

Look into visible if your phone is compatible. It uses Verizon towers and everything is unlimited for $40 a month all in. Highly recommend.

My girlfriend and I are on Verizon prepaid together

It has nothing to do with being poor. We bought her iPhone XS Max on a Best Buy card with 18 months no interest financing, so we don't pay the whole amount up front, we don't pay interest, and we have an unlocked phone that we can take to any carrier at will.

We pay $85/month total after tax for both of our phones, and we basically get two separate lines each with 8gb data eligible for rollover data and another bonus 8gb data that isn't eligible for rollover. So basically each line starts every month with anywhere from 16-24gb of data.

It does downsample HD video to 480p, but neither of us care about that as we don't do movie watching on our phones. It also includes mobile hotspot access that is throttled but runs fast enough for what I'd ever use it for.
