Attending Timeshare Presentations For Free Vacations And/Or Gifts

Anyone on the board ever sat through one of these presentations in order to get something "free"?
I have not and do not plan to ever do so, but how are these companies able to give away free vacations, etc to so many people who do not purchase their product?
In Las Vegas there are a lot of these offers. "Attend presentation & get free helicopter ride to the grand canyon" or "Get a free Alaskan cruise", etc.
Let's say there is a presentation that offers a free cruise. It might cost the timeshare company $1000 for each cruise they give away.. So if they have a presentation and 20 people attend, that's $20k, Do they only need 1 out 20 people to buy their product to cover the cost for the free cruises they give away?
Buying a timeshare is one of the worst things you can "invest" in. First, what do they say to convince people a timeshare is worth buying? (I know people can be convinced to buy just about anything, but just wondering what is their sales pitch).
And I would imagine, if they are giving away "free" shite, they must be aggressive in their pitch.
Anyway, like I asked.. Anyone ever attended these things?

I know everything on the OT, but this is about as trashy as it gets.

I went through one in Cabo. “Sit through a one hour presentation and get a $600 resort credit. No pressure to buy”. It was 2 hours and super high pressure. I said no thanks about 10 times and then had to say I just want my credit and I’ll leave.

I had a golfing bud go to one and he said they stood up well to the pressure. Said it lasted a long time and then, they brought in "Lance".
He said Lance had enough gold chains on to sink a boat and that was when the hard sell began.
He and his wife finally got up and said they were promised a grand father clock for attending and they were leaving. He got the clock in a box and when he got back to his room it was cardboard. As he tells it, it was a grandfather clock.

My dad has done one before. He's an old bastard with nothing but time and he likes fricking with people. He said he messed with the guy for an hour acted all interested and asking a million questions then when the hour hit said "alright it's been an hour give me my free stuff" and got up and walked out.
I'm afraid he had too much fun and might start doing it as a hobby to collect free shite.

My wife and I have an understanding. If she ever schedules any presentation of any kind for me to attend she owes me $1000. I haven't had to attend a presentation in a long time.

I did it in Myrtle Beach in 2014 and got 3 days on the beach (minus a couple hours) for less than $250.
Edit: My salesman knew he had a dead end when he asked me, “How much do you usually spend for your summer vacation? Probably over $2000 on average, right?”
My answer was, “If I spend more than $500 on this trip I’ll be disappointed with myself.”
Sales pitch over.

I went to one at mountain resort in Arkansas several years ago. Nice place. Got 3 nights lodging for free. Food was better than expected and was the only expense while there. They tried the high pressure pitch during their sales presentation but I didn’t bite and it wasn’t a really big deal.

I did. With wife.
We got a slew of activities.
They bought the activities cut rate.
Did not mind because I was considering it.
Hawaii. Maui.
More interested in Kauai and Oahu now. My wife has friends Maui. Mine are Oahu and Kauai.

I did one in the hill country of Texas. Two free nights if we sit through a presentation. It’s really quite easy to tell them “no thanks”. Sure they’re disappointed but whatever. I didn’t ask for the free vacation, they offered.

My wife's parents were cheap as hell and funded more than a couple family vacations by going to those.
I would rather stay home. Can't imagine making it through without leaving.

Wife and I did just to see what it's all about. Talk about the "hard sell". It was crazy. We had to say, say more intently , then finally scream NO to get out of there alive.
We did get a free weekend cruise that we never used, haha! Oh well.
Never will do it again.
