They tried to make it an open container entertainment district years ago but the city council voted it down. That was its last hope. I’m not sure how they pay property taxes now. It’s been in a death spiral for ten years now. It was only really packed the first few years of its existence. If they would’ve incorporated condos, an entertainment district, or something similar originally, it might have been a home run. Otherwise, it was just another mall…that was outdoors…in Louisiana.

We were involved in the push for that. It was dead from the onset. Maybe give some major retailers favorable rent? Seeing dollar genesl there isn't the best look

When they first opened the boardwalk the security was insane, you weren't even allowed to wear a hat backwards. I heard they eased up on security and a different crowd showed up.

And there it is...

When they had the night or comedy club there it would bring people but the cops set up right out front the parking lot to pull people over. People got wise to this and stopped coming. They had a good Irish bar and the bowling alley was nice as well

Yeah I was like 12 when it opened up so I didn’t get to experience all that.

Demographics is destiny. Move to a different part of the country. Idaho beats the absolute shite out of NW LA.

I was at the Boardwalk in Bossier maybe 8-9 years ago for work. Well I was staying at the casino hotel at least.

Has it changed a ton since then? It seemed ok to me at the time

This. It's an outdoor mall in a very hot climate. Just the way things are now

I’ve always wondered how an outside mall could be popular in this hell climate.

Malls in general are croaking outward.

The best malls I’ve ever seen were Galleria in Dallas and Time Warner center at Columbus circle.

Used to be a good spot when it first opened in like 2006 to 2011. Now the Bossier spot is where Frozen Pirogue is on a small stretch with like 3 or 4 bars, probably a half mile from there.

But really if you want anything in the Shreveport metro that resembles a nice classy nightlife, Superior Steakhouse on Pierremont Line is it. I've been to many nice bars in Dallas and Houston, and Superior Steakhouse ranks up there with any of them or even better. I grew up like 1000 ft from it (north, not south as most people would guess from there and posting on this site).

I was in that bass pro one time looking at the guns when a brutha was trying to purchase a pistol. The worker was running the background check and said "this says you are a felon," brutha just walked off

^^^^^
Someone is full of s$@t. Either you or the Bass Pro employee. The only information disclosed to the FFL after the NICS check is “proceed”, “deny”, or “further review” (delay). That’s it.

Unless the young scholar was dumb enough to actually check the “have you ever been convicted of a felony” box. He could have noticed that and been pointing it out to the guy.

The wife and I stayed at the margaritaville casino a few months ago. We walked down to the boardwalk to kill some time.

It is one of the nicer features of Shreveport/Bossier but I got the same impression. It was a complete ghost town with half the stores closed. Granted this was a weekday but we only saw one other family walking around the entire time outside of workers.

tbf, the bass pro is pretty busy usually. I can see the other parts of it being a ghost town though.

Bass Pro has always drawn a crowd, but the rest of the Boardwalk was been a ghost town for over a decade. Hooters was the exception. You could hear your footsteps as you walked there, then you would hear the buzz of the Hooters crowd get louder as you approached. It is an odd experience.

Now some locals have announced Chasing Aces Golf, coming to the north side of Margaritaville. Planned to have 30 swing bays, fine dining restaurant, regular restaurant, sports bar, banquet hall, a nine-hole, day-and-night par 3 golf course, and an 18-hole putting green course.

Same group just opened 3 Amigos restaurant in the old Buffalo Wild Wings in the Boardwalk. They say that they will open a comedy club and a second restaurant in 2024.

The Marriot is adding close to 60 rooms. News reports say that the Boardwalk has a deal with a movie studio that will build down there. And the Bossier sheriff's detective unit will be housed there while their space in Benton is renovated.
