Maybe if they allowed more pipelines to be built we’d have less railroad emissions…

The only obvious and acceptable answer is nothing but electric trains by the end of 2024.

Do they even have an inkling of how much tonnage per day is handled by the railroad?

Let's just go ahead and make everything electric. No gas, ever. We all know how safe and reliable electric grid systems are throughout the country, and how they never fail, and how there's no downside to everyone and everything sucking off the same electric teat.

Sounds great. You go first, politicians. When do we start?

Found the problem. We certainly can't have people come to the realization that infrastructure gets built even without government.

Ha! Good luck with that.

This is nothing but a ploy to permeate another layer of wealth redistribution & control through the illusion of environmental governance.

Yeah…Outside of sea-shipping, railroad freight is the most efficient way to move large amounts of cargo from point to point.

They’re already on their 4th Tier of emission standards in the last 30 years.

Can we at least put those little drops of oil or water or whatever it was to make smoke come out of the train?

Hmm. Recognizing that the legacy media is dying and trying to throw weight elsewhere? And is dropping Tesla “revenge” against Musk?

Buying into the “smaller,” Eastern Class I roads. BNSF and UP are bigger and in the West. I do wonder how the Canadian invasions (CN and CPKC) play into the EPA’s stuff on freight.

The EPA should not be able to make law.

Technically, pretty well all of them are serial hybrids, which is basically an electric infinitely variable transmission (IVT). There is no battery, so the latter term is more accurate than calling them a hybrid, which usually implies some means of storage and regen.

Now, back to to your regularly scheduled Cali bashing thread.

Warren Buffett (key member of the oligarchy) will stop this.

They’re “diesel-electrics.” A diesel motor provides the energy that’s converted to electricity to power the traction motors on the trucks to move the locomotive.

I believe I got that right.

That's going to make it hard for high speed rail.
