We have had a Tuft & Needle for almost 7 years now. In the market for a new bed mattress and not sure the latest and greatest.
The online mattress market has expanded crazily since we first bought the T&N, so wondering about any experiences to make a good ~5-7 year mattress.

Mrs. Nephropidae wants something FIRM.

I have a Casper. It's a little more firm than I usually go with, but my parents slept on it one night when we all went to see Neil Diamond in NOLA, and they bought one the next day.

We are almost 5 years in on a tuft and needle. When we need another it will likely be another tuft and needle.

Since I’m older and have some money I’m looking at a sleep number at my wife’s request. They are good, but they are expensive. I could not handle a firm bed.

Sleep EZ USA split latex. 10” model. Customize the layers by their recommendation.

Latex sleeps pretty firm in general, and their guarantee is something like 90d. They’ll let you swap the layers you don’t like out, but I think you’ll pay return shipping on them.

do they ship it to your door like the others? There's no way in hell I'm going to a furniture/mattress store.

Stores deliver. You didn't know this?

Don't think I gave clarity. I don't go to the store. Not to pick it out, not to pay, not to bring it home.

I want someone on TD to convince me to buy something online right now.

Fair enough.

I tried several mattresses, to me it makes sense to check them out in a store first, but I found the tempurpedic to be the best one I could find. They are expensive, but I think worth it. We bought ours 6 months ago, and I sleep so much better than I did previously.

As do I. I sprang for the one with the cooling tech. And then wasted money on the cover. The cover makes it too hot for some reason

Very easy. Sold them for years.

Do not buy a bed in a box. Really is very simple and yet people are dumb enough to keep doing it.

Tuft and Needle is one of the cheapest made beds on the market. It is literally just poly foam. It is also owned by Simmons, not by "industry beaters". Bed in a box are terrible beds. All of them.

For the price of purple, you can get a Sealy Hybrid that is substantially better. Want firm? Go Copper 2 or Trust. Trust being the firmer of the two, but ill be honest...most people buy firm because their shitty mattress had no support so they assume they want firm.

In fact most of my returns were because the mattress was uncomfortable on the firm side, because the customer did not listen.

If you sleep on your side and buy firm, you will be in pain. Really that simple. Support and comfort are not the same. The SUPPORT is the quality of the mattress and longevity. Good support means it holds its feel substantially longer(denser coils or foam). The comfort will help you sleep better without pressure points sparking up causing continuously tossing and turning.

Let me repeat it again and you can choose to listen or not. No one who sells mattresses and has knowledge of the industry buys a bed in a box. No one. There is a reason.

Every bed has mark up, but the cheap foam in bed in a box brands can be bought as a low lvl bed from an off brand for 300-500 bucks cheaper. Considering only ONE company makes almost every mattress foam in the country, its all marketing gimmick.

Beauty rest is now trash. They are made in China. Avoid.

Simmons sucks. Made in China same as Beauty rest(same company). Avoid.

Sealy or Serta are the ONLY two brands I would touch at low to mid cost. That's it.

At upper end. Go Tempur. That simple. There is a reason every major retailer carries them. They have the lowest return rate in the market(by over 10 percent), and the lowest warranty claims(less than 2 percent of sold mattresses) despite having the best warranty in terms of full swap, at only 3/4 an inch of dip. The new Tempur beds have almost no pressure points. Its absurd to sleep on. I will never buy another type of bed.

There you go. Nice and easy. Choose to listen or not, its on you.

I'll be honest, you have me sold on Tempur. I will bite back a bit on the mattress in a box... We had a great experience with Tuft & Needle.

I went with a Serta bed in a box. Was not happy at first because of how firm it was. Had it for 10 years now and it is comfy. Broken in and I have a hard time sleeping on a regular mattress now.
