My apologies if a thread has been done--I searched and couldn't find one.
2023 was a good one for the Grim Reaper as many well-known figures met their demise.
Some of the low-hanging fruit is unavailable for picking in 2024 as Bob Barker (99), Harry Belafonte (96), Tony Bennett (96), Henry Kissinger (100), Rosalyn Carter (96), and Norman Lear (101) all made their way to the exit.
I've tried to lay low on these since 2020 when I created suspicion and raised eyebrows by choosing former NBA commissioner David Stern, only to see him not make it past lunch on New Year's day. Luckily my alibis held up and I wasn't implicated in his expiration...
Some early candidates for 2024?
Jimmy Carter (99) has to be the chalk. I think the betting line would be at -1000. He will be just the 4th president to die in the last 30 years (Reagan, Ford, Bush), and each of those 4 will have lived to be at least 93.
Other candidates sure to be listed on multiple ballots:
Dick Van Dyke (98)
June Lockhart (98)
Mel Brooks (97)
Bob Newhart (94)
Buzz Aldrin (94)
Gene Hackman (94)
Clint Eastwood (93)
Good luck and choose wisely!
