Child out of wedlock costs Catholic principal his job

tl;dr Popular local principal, who saved a local Catholic school from closure, confessed his sin of tapping it in the missionary position for the sole sake of procreation without putting a ring on it first. Baw confesses this super extremely heinous act to the school's priest; priest breaks the seal of confession and fires the guy.
Thoughts? Figured this was interesting timing, given the recently deceased Pope was all about forgiving these kinds of sins. It feels like a step back for such a welcoming institution.

For added context: this school knowingly kept around not one, but two, child predators.
Michael Fraser
Patrick Wattigney
For added added context: The Archdiocese has zero issue with taking the exorbitant amounts of money from single parents.

Mr. Surrency has been a transformative leader. His dedication to our children, faculty, and school community has been nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment he arrived, he brought a new energy and spirit that had been missing for years.
Mr. Surrency:
Boosted morale among students and teachers
Personally greeted students every morning to start their day positively
Pulled the school out of approximately $200,000 in debt
Increased funding and secured donations for future growth, including new STEAM labs
Created new extracurricular opportunities like a boys’ baseball team, with plans for a wrestling team and summer camp
Supported his faculty fully—even substituting in classrooms when needed
Produced weekly newsletters to keep families informed and connected
Started each day with a prayer and video message that united our community
Designed a fresh, new logo for VOL to represent our growing spirit
Made students, parents, and staff feel respected, safe, and supported
His removal, reportedly due to having a child out of wedlock, disregards the overwhelming support and trust he has earned from the entire school community. Mr. Surrency’s professional excellence and personal integrity are what matter most to the families of VOL.
......
Mr. Brandon Surrency brought renewed hope and progress to Visitation of Our Lady School. He led with compassion, energy, and integrity—earning the trust of students, parents, and staff alike. His removal, based on personal circumstances, ignores the overwhelming positive impact he has had on the school. We believe in redemption, compassion, and second chances—values that Mr. Surrency has modeled every day. For the well-being of our children and our community, we urge the Archdiocese to bring him back.

It's unfortunate, but the Catholic Church is it's own worst enemy. They have driven away more of their own than any outside force could have drawn away. I'm talking about protecting child predators, etc.

It's really unfortunate for him he didn't get caught diddling little kids. He would have just got moved to a different school in that case, possibly even a promotion.

Where is this part coming from? The petition says they assume it is for having a child out of wedlock. Is there any statement from the school? Any statement from the principal?

This is why confession is retarded. You don’t need a middle man for forgiveness. All you’re doing is telling some guy the bad things you did and now he knows the bad things you did.

Your opinion of Catholic Church aside, this part seems to be speculation by OP. I couldn’t find that in any part of the petition to save the guy’s job. If a priest actually did what OP is saying then he would be in serious trouble with the Church.
I couldn’t find anything online about this guy’s firing other than speculation as to why in the petition.

Damn I didn’t know the priest was allowed to narc on you. Outside of confessing to a major violent crime, I figured things were supposed to stay in the confessional.
Pro tip, just skip the middle man next time.

It’s pretty easy not to fall dick first into someone else’s vagina, who’s not your wife.

My mom works a catholic school in greater Nola area.
Out of the last 5 priests there 1 was a homo having orgies in the rectory (fact) and 2 others that had accusations of heinous acts before they were "moved" to this church.
So more than 50% are scum. Lol

Not from the link posted. I couldn’t find anything online about the situation except for the petition in the OP.
According to the petition, the petitioner's “believe” he was fired for having a child out of wedlock. Even the petition states that it is speculative on their part. If this somehow involved a subordinate of his at the school then this would be more than just a two consenting adults situation.

Forgiving of sins is God's job, not any mans. There are always consequences to your sins, and this was God's for this guy. People thinking this is a "step back" in a negative way is what is wrong with Christiandom. There are rules. Stick to them, and stop widening the guardrails set by God, just to appease your sinful ways.
No one is perfect, we all color outside of the lines, but doesn't mean you get a pass for doing so.
Now the whole breaking of the confession booth part, if true, is something that Catholics need to figure out if worth a punishment for the priest, as thats him "coloring outside the lines". But now that it's out, you can't have someone leading children that is living a morally wrong life.

Since the seal of confession cannot be broken in any situation, it is not because of that.
Anyone in Catholic education in the Archdiocese does have to sign a morality clause, and a child out of wedlock would break said clause.
