How much trouble do you think someone could get in by installing a speed bump on a public road without permission from the city (BR)?

Spike strips are more effective

Gonna say that’s not a good idea. Actually, it’s a fricking awful idea. Hope someone doesn’t hit it and crash and die…

no trouble at all. do it and report back

It’s a great idea if you want to be personally responsible for any damage, without insurance coverage.

Ruin your life kind of trouble. You're toast criminally and civilly if someone goes over it at 70 mph and crashes and dies

Just do it in secret in the middle of the night.

The city doesn't fix potholes, so why should it worry about a hump?

Ask the Southdowns folks who lost power when someone hit the Cloverdale speedbump between Gladiola and Primrose at full speed and managed to take down a power pole down the road at Hyacinth.
TLDR: speedbump + fast&bad driver = no power for lots of people.

Douchey neighbor down the street put a heavy rope across the road to deter people into slowing down. It really isn't much to go over at all but I often see people slowing down for it.

Unless you tell no one will know you did I it. But, they will remove it with the quickness.

Maybe this is the move.

just throw a big rope across the road. it's barely a bump when cars hit it, but they will slow down before driving over it. and you can remove it easily when not in use. drivers don't pay any attention to those 'kids at play' signs

Not really. The dead can't talk. Hide the speed bump and call 911. a-hole shouldn't have been speeding.

You could easily get away with it in a neighborhood in BR. The city has no clue what work projects they have going on and/or who completed them. If there was an issue you could convince the city that they did it.

Foam bricks are funny as hell.

Do better than the city, and make it more shapes like a curb

Trouble from the city is your least worry. Gordon McKernan will be waiting for you the day after you install it with 10 people that claim back injury. Or maybe that would be Peyton Murphy the back and neck injury lawyer?

Just explain to the city you were doing them a favor because eventually it will crack and you’re just preemptively filling it. Win win!

I just keep a stroller with a doll in it right on the shoulder. It never fails.
