In business, putting MBA seems weird/try hard.

In science, it seems okay if it's in addition to a science-related degree.

I work in commercial banking. I don't put "MBA" in my signature. I can't recall seeing anyone do that before to be honest.

I guess I see the difference since MBA isn't really a professional license or designation. If I had one, I'm not sure I'd list it. I thought this thread was for any letters behind your name in general, not specifically MBA only.

Nurses also like to put their initials and then "RN" on their license plates. Sad.

I work in engineering. Most people have engineer in their title, and we all have PE behind our names on business cards, email sigs, etc. That goes across the industry, not just where I work.

PE gives the ability to do things other engineers can't so it could be important on a business card as in someone may need to know you have the PE. Having an MBA doesn't give you anymore "clearance" to do anything else.

To answer the original question, it pretty try hard. I work with people that all have advanced degrees/certs and no one does that in my office.

It looks bad.

I don’t know anyone with a top tier mba (say top 20) that does this.

Putting MBA in an e-mail signature line is a bit try-hard.

Should only be reserved if you're in the medical field or a PhD.

My last set of business cards have MBA and a professional certification after my name.

I would have preferred to have left off the MBA part because it comes off douchey, but the form I filled out asked for professional certifications, graduate degrees etc.

whatever

I find it funny seeing MBA put in email signatures, but the worst is people that put it after their name on LinkedIn.

If you're emailing clients, I think it's reasonable.

ETA - depends on the field.

That might be even worse than people who add “Esq.” to the end of their name.

I think that is appropriate in a signature line, especially if they are communicating with professionals from other outside companies.

People with credentials usually put them in their signature at my work, because it’s helpful to know if you’re talking to a nurse, MD, pharmacist, etc...

LCA, I said I shortened my signature. It was a tough choice to drop LSD (get it, drop LSD?).

Very well done, hipster.

If you ever want to be treated well, just put LCA after your name.
