Moving to Houston, had a moving crew come in and pack up for us. Premium price for the service, but the 4 guys working, tip or no?

It's not tipping I believe in. It's overtipping.

Helped organize a move recently. The movers on each end did a good job and had a good attitude, so I gave each guy $20. We also had a bunch of new appliances delivered and set up. Gave those guys $10 each.
I don't think they expected it, and they seemed genuinely grateful.
I don't think Emily Post requires it, but if you can swing it and they do a good job, give them a bright spot in their day.

I tipped my movers like 60 bucks each (company paid them, so I didn't mind tipping more). Problem is, we didn't open boxes until the next day and realized they did a shite job

Movers are usually pretty good at tipping themselves in my experience.

Just packing for a 3 br house with all your dishees and clothes and misc shite already in boxes, $20 each.
Actually moving from one place to another packing and unpacking, not including unpacking boxes, $50 each, so long as they don’t break any of your shite and they put everything in the room that you want it in.

If they did a good job or went beyond normal service, tip them.

What constitutes a good job beyond normal service?

You ever paid someone to move your house across the country?

My last move was just across town, but the guys worked hard and got the job done in under the estimated time, reducing the move price by a few hundred. They got a tip and it was a win-win for us all.

Just see if they include the tip in the moving expenses.

That I haven't done. But we've moved across town twice and it was like $500 each time for 3 guys. I didn't tip.

At the minimum tell them upfront you're buying pizza and coke/water. You'll find them having a better attitude with your stuff, not to mention your walls not getting scuffed etc.

Went from lake Charles to Houston. Company paid 11k for them to move so i don’t mind tipping. I was gonna say 50 each

What kind of square footage were they moving? 11K is cross country pricing.

It wasn’t much, 2000 sq ft to 3800. It’s part of a relocation package so I’m sure the packers screwed my company’s eyes out. Oh well

We had crappy no-name movers when we moved from our apartment to our townhouse. New construction, and they literally punched a hole in our ceiling trying to lift a couch. I have no idea how it happened, or why they had a 7 foot couch vertical to move it to a staircase. The guy said I could pay a Mexican $20 to patch that. I just walked to the bedroom window and dialed the number on the side of their truck, and the move ended up free for me. I tipped one of the guys, but the other two were crap all day.
The next time I went with a larger company, and paid for a 3rd guy to knock down the overall time. They were great. My wife was pregnant and not able to help a lot with packing and during the move, and I had just started a new job with not much time off yet. They estimated like 6-8 hours, ended up finishing in under 4, boxes were in the rooms I had them labeled for, and she had opened some up and started putting things into place. Nothing broken, nothing unorganized, and they were friendly and working hard. I gave them each $40 on top of buying lunch and providing water and drinks. I was also in the middle of summer in Alabama, and over 90 degrees most of the day.

This summer had a long haul move of a 4 BR house. The delivery team was two eastern europeans, one who didn't speak english. They worked at a reasonable pace in the Georgia heat and got everything in without any damage to the furniture or my newly painted walls. I gave them each $40 after and the non-english speaking Russian nearly fell overhimself trying to thank me in some indiscernible language.
The other guy was a gypsy looking Moldovan who was appreciative, but the Russian's reaction alone was worth tipping them. It was as if I just bought his family out of a Siberian gulag.
