Ever get a cut that just won’t heal?

So, part of my Christmas present was a new set of fancy German kitchen knives. They came in last Thursday, and like the lady I am, I decided to wash them. I’ve washed knives by hand in a sink full of soapy water for almost 50 years. But despite decades of experience, one of those suckers cut me so bad on my thumb that my husband got worried and we went to urgent care.
The doctor told me I didn’t need stitches since the cut went up instead of straight across, wrapped it with gauze and told me to keep the wrap on for 2 days, and sent me away. But… this happened last Thursday, and it is still bleeding. Christmas is coming up fast, and I can’t afford to be off my kitchen game. Do you any of you baws and ladies have any ideas how to get my pos thumb to quit being a little bitch so I can get it wet/ do normal Christmas cooking activities?

Can’t help on the cut advice, but I too sliced the hell out of my thumb washing a chef’s knife. Wasn’t as bad as what yours sounds like though, but I still get a little shiver run through me when I go to clean that knife now.

Pics would help. Pics of the cut obviously.
However any other pics of yourself might help give proper advice.

I cut the tip of my finger off, just a thin slice. It wouldn’t stop bleeding b. Went to the Dr after about 6 hours of bleeding and they put some kind of stop-bleed pad on it. I had to keep it wrapped and put new stop-bleed pad on it for about a week I think.
Just don’t heal fast when you get older.
Wrap it and put on nitrile gloves to protect it when cooking.

Here’s a pic of the cut:
As for pics of me, way hotter chics are posted daily. My husband loves my pushing-50 arse, and that’s enough validation for me.

Liquid bandage or super glue

You got diabetes or HIV? Your immune system got issues

Check to make sure you don’t have the diabetes. All BS aside, wounds that don’t heal is a sign of diabetes.

Nope, I don’t have either of those conditions.

He's got to get that sucker healed. It's no good to him like that.
Liquid skin works great.

Hope you didn’t put peroxide on it. When I have patients that have a normal wound that won’t heal, they are usually putting it in alcohol, and more than not, peroxide. Just put some neosporin on it, and a bandaid. The neosporin, and it’s the sauve property, helps it repel the healing proteins back to the wound bed, that helps it heal fast( the antibiotics are smoke and mirrors)…

Cool story, I’m watching Carnivale season 2 right now too.

Have one of your hospital friends get a hold of some Dermabond- a medical grade skin glue used to seal surgical incisions. Put on a thin layer and let it dry thoroughly. Should form a protective barrier for a couple of days.

I had a similar cut. You have to create a hard layer over it with liquid band aid. Basically a hard shell. I kept getting it caught on things like my pockets when getting keys out etc.

Go get bloodwork. When i didnt heal up i found out later i had CML. If your bruising easy thats another big sign.

Like another poster has said, don’t clean wounds with peroxide or alcohol.
It kills the bad cells while also killing the good cells - not allowing the wound to fully heal.

That was me a few months ago with a cut on my finger that kept reop reopening on a knuckle.
I quit using peroxide and went with a cream and and those knuckle bandages wrapped tight as hell.
Healed right up.
