Allied Trust
Cajun Underwriters
Gulf States
Sure

are all writing new business as of October, even in the tri-parish area of Orleans, Jefferson, and St Tammany. If you have a 5 year or newer roof, i'd suggest asking for some quotes

Be aware that they may require 5% storm deductibles on those parishes but you can get a 3% with a couple

Better read that new policy closely. Insurance is like casinos with the house always favored. My premium went up 55% last year. I shopped and was told no one could beat it.

Coverage for single wide mobile homes is the canary in the coal mine.

Well USAA just jacked up my auto rates by 50%. Spotless records, minimal driving (80% wfh).

Quick comparison and they are steal cheaper than other, but not by much. Will see when homeowners renewal comes up in a few months.

Anyone have any good or bad feedback on Cajun UW's or Gulf States? I am considering quotes from these two and they both have pros/cons. One is lower premium but lower dwelling (by 30k) and higher deductible (5% instead of 3% for hurricane/wind/hail). Diff. is about $2k in premium

A friend of mine is trying to go with Gulf States, but they are giving him problems with his roof. It’s a 35 year roof, it’s been on for 16 years, about half the life expectancy. They are disgusting it now. Even though a roofing company has written a letter as to the wear of the roof during this time frame.

My friend that owns a roofing company said a few more insurance companies, will start writing policies, after the first of the year.

Claimed to make 5k/day or some shite one time too.

That’s only $1 million per year. I know at least a dozen people who make that. It’s a lot, but not out of the question.

My house will be for sale by the end of the year. My premium doubled from last year and unfortunately I can’t afford to pay the new cost.

I am in the process of meeting with a couple of agents to try to reduce some coverage and maybe get the cost in line to what I can afford.
