Lafayette. We just reconstructed a house built in 1963 in Bendel Gardens. 388/month is the best quote we got from SafeCo Insurance. Honestly not as bad as I thought considering the horror stories out there.

I would up your deductible to $5000 or even $10000 and see if it makes a difference in premium. I am the type of person that wouldn’t file a claim unless the damages are in excess of $10k

The solution is to leave Louisiana

If you shop around, whatever you do, under no circumstances go with Allstate or State Farm.

You're going to be in for a world of hurt if someone even unsuccessfully tries to sue you. Then you're gonna bitch and complain about attorney fees in a future thread here.
A $500,000 liability policy would likely run you $500 a year ($41/month). People can sue for anything and they can successfully sue for almost anything nowadays.
Not to mention the possibility of a lightning strike causing a fire one day without homeowners insurance.
You've got massive balls, bruh.

As bad as they both are, one of those might as well be called "Saints and Angels Fire & Casualty" and the other is Allstate.

Same numbers as my home. I'm in Covington. No Ida claim; I didn't even have a Katrina claim- same home. I renewed with Safeco in March.

Sage Sure quoted me $11k on $650k value with a 2% deductible in Iberia Parish. Crazy how much it can vary. 0 claims in 19 years of owning a home.

Iberia is rough. anything south of I-10 is going to be trouble

1 suit will wipe out over 20 years of premiums save when you start paying defense costs. All it takes is one.
It also used to be PI lawyers wouldn’t go after the person beyond the policy limits. Not anymore. They will look at where you live, your education, what you drive, what your job is, etc to see if you’re a ripe piece of fruit.

Not just attorney fees. Also paying doctors to counter the plaintiffs doctors that the plaintiff can’t get his dick up, he can’t work anymore, back injuries, etc etc etc. Deposition costs, court costs, etc etc.
