New OrLEANS - Yankee
New Orleans - Southerner
Nawlins - Local

If you say Norfolk the way most people do, you don’t want to say it slowly.

I say Jom. It's from jambon, the french word for ham, so I say it that way.

Then again, the original recipe as a rustic dish made from the leftovers of a ham has been completely changed to a very spicy rice with chicken so maybe the pronunciation should change as well.

Neither born nor raised in LA but I damn sure ain't saying JAM.

I never paid much attention to how it was spelled because I never wrote it and I honestly always thought it was jum-balaya because it was originally a jumble of leftover meat.

If someone pronounced it “jam,” I would kinda lose respect for that person, unless they were just ignorant and really did not know better.
