How long is the gap between a 2nd interview and 3rd interview?

Last week I had two phone interviews... one on a Tuesday and one on a Friday.
The 2nd interview went well and I was told I will have final 3rd interview over video instead of just a phone interview(I am interviewing for a position 2 time zones away).
On Monday morning I was contacted and said that the 2nd interview went well and they will set up a time for that 3rd interview. It's been 3 days now and I haven't heard back from them since, still haven't gotten a time or date for this 3rd interview I told would happen.
I have put other opportunities on hold as this is the job I want, but am wondering at what point do I stop waiting and reach out to my other opportunities.
I am not to familiar with these processes, as the job I have right now I was interviewed, offered and hired in a 24 hour span, so I don't know if this gap is standard.

You aren't getting the job.

Probably, but why tell me at the conclusion of my 2nd interview last Friday, then again on Monday morning through e-mail, that I will have a 3rd interview?

why not try and contact them and ask them if you can expect the third interview within a reasonable time?

I thought about it but I don't want to appear impatient or needy, for leverage purposes

I used to feel that way early in my career but eventually found out that it doesn't put you in a negative light with a prospective employer, or at least one that would be career worthy. I don't think they would take offense or consider you impatient. It's not unreasonable for them to assume that you may have other offers on the table.

You're in denial.

That's how most crappy job hirings go.

Sometimes it takes weeks in between interviews. Recently I had an interview in late Jan. A second interview in mid Feb. and didn't get offered the job until the first of March. You have to remember, while the job search is a huge deal in your life, it may not necessarily be the most pressing thing on the agenda for the company or person looking to make the hire. I wouldn't freak out if it's only been 3 days.
Reach out today. Don't put the other opportunities on hold just because you "hope" to get the job you really want. What happens if you don't get the job you want and by the time you find out, you have missed your chance with the other employers? Then you're SOL.
At worst, try to create leverage with other opportunities. You're in a position of power if you have 2 or 3 employers competing for your services rather than just 1. Wouldn't it be nice to get the job you want AND increase your salary offer by forcing them to outbid another potential employer?

Well the person who would hire me gave me the 2nd interview, and liked what I had to say, and said my 3rd interview would be with her and the person I would be replacing if I were hired.

I got hired quickly because the person I replaced gave my employer 3 days notice and they were scrambling to find a quick replacement
The job I am interviewing for now is the same thing I am doing now, but in a larger market covering a larger area and I would be the leader of a team. Right now I am a one-man department

Good advice... I'll ramp up the other opportunities today
Like I said I am just spoiled because the job I work now I was hired so quickly

There isn't a formula for these kinds of things. The hiring process is generally miserable for seekers because it's just not a high priority for any company worth a shite. The larger they are, the longer it takes. Don't ever believe anything anyone tells you in your job search until you sign an offer. Keep looking and don't waste time waiting for this one company.
The job I have now I was verbally offered over the phone and they said the written offer would be sent to me the next day. They dragged their feet for a week and I continued to interview with other companies until they gave me a written offer. Just an example.

It is not at all unreasonable to contact companies that you are interviewing with to get clarification on what their timeline looks like.
Just be polite and let them know that you are very interested in working for them, but you have multiple prospects right now, and are curious about how things will proceed.
Most businesses will understand that it's only natural to be looking out for your best interests. It's very discourteous to be opaque with a potential employee about the interview/hiring timeline if you have other opportunities that you are putting on hold for them.

Exactly. We ultimately want jobs for our own well-being and for our families. Never pretend like that isn't the main goal. Any company that isn't in denial understands this.

I've never had a third interview.

Your goal of becoming a plant operator won't happen this time. Sucks

I went one week between my first and second interview, then 3 weeks after I didnt hear back after thinking I would hear back. I called and next thing I knew after speaking with them I had the 3rd interview set up whenever was convenient for me then had an offer at the end of it.
Point being is that even though I was nervous about calling, some employers like it.
