same thing was said about 1870, 1890,

The people who lived through a global depression and two world wars that killed entire generations of men? Authoritarian fascist and communist dictators that slaughtered populations and crushed countries?

We have been living in a relative era of easy stress free peace for decades. It’s not going to last.

I was actually telling someone today that if I woke up tomorrow in my 20s, I’d probably just off myself.

what i am saying is in 1825 im sure people were like....look how many people are coming to the US, imagine how bad it will be by 1870 or 1890

then those in 1925 said the same thing about 1970 and 1990 and frankly 1990 was one of the best years to live in the US

The crazy thing to me is that you were born in the 40s. Folks born in the early 40s are pushing 90.

Now, even I am starting to feel old.

considering you’re sub 5’9”, I’m not sure this is a point to boast about.

What kind of world is being left for these kids?

A great world, full of challenges and opportunities.

There once was a boy whose father died and his mother and siblings and he were ostracized by his tribe. That was a death sentence in those circumstances. The boy was about 13 years old. What kind of world was left for that kid?

Well, he became the greatest man in the world. He defeated his older brother to take control of his family; he defeated the tribe’s leadership to take control of the tribe; he defeated the rest of the tribes of his people; and then he led them to decades of war, conquering much of China and half of Europe.

Had he been a pussy it would have been a shitty world that was left him, but Genghis Khan made something much more of it.

BTW, people in America who are younger than 20 will live 200 years unless they self-harm.

I'll be 84 in 2070. I plan to be here well beyond that, God willing.

I was born in 1965, so I’m 60. Three of my grandparents lived into their 90s - 91, 92 and 96. The other one died at 53 in a work accident. Dad died of cancer at 81. My mom is 89 and takes no medications for anything. It’s conceivable I could live to be 90 or older, which would be at least 2055. It’s wild to think about.

I remember when I was a kid, my teacher told us we should take a good look at Haley's comet because we would all be dead the next time it came around. That was a sobering moment in the otherwise blissful life of an 80s child.

Well, data shows gen z men are returning to the church in droves. A recent study out of the UK shows churches there are growing rapidly, particularly the Catholic Church. (Interesting aside: Gen Z Christians in the UK are now 2:1 Catholic vs Protestant). Don’t give up.

I remember being shocked when my college professor said that most babies born after 2004 (that year) will likely live to see the turn of the 22nd century.

She predicted the average life span of a child born after 2004 to be 125

I'm sure folks said the same things in 1930s during the great depression or during desegregation in 1960s.

I want no part of what this world will be like in 2070. I can barely tolerate it now.
