In your opinion, should “Left lane for passing only” violation become a national law?

Tennessee may be one of the worst offenders in this country.

A line of cars 3-4 miles long and very few semis in sight.

It’s easy to pass them all in the right lane since there are so damn few of them in it. But when there is, you’re stuck for 20 min to get around the one doing 10 below in the right.

It’s time this become a national law with actual enforcement.

No. Police powers should belong to the states.

sure as shite is, I take backroads all the time now.

We need to be more like states like Michigan and fine the hell out of vehicles that stay in the passing lane.

Also no transfer trucks allowed in the passing lane in Michigan.

I don't think there's a single state where there isn't a left lane law. The problem is they aren't enforced at all.

Maybe South Dakota is the only state, but there's so little traffic on the roads in SD that it doesn't matter.

It’s never enforced so why does it matter what the law is?

Every state prob already has a law on the books.

I just need to get better at not getting into a fiery crash while giving them a dirty look as I pass them on the right.

The US interstate system needs to be minimum 3 lanes. This would help some but adopting the autobahn rules and getting rid of shite drivers would take care of the rest.

ETA autobahn is 3 lanes minimum and trucks are strictly prohibited from driving in the left lane. It makes an enormous difference.

I'm fine with a strict law on left-lane campers, if it is coupled with strict penalties for left-lane speeders. Some people apparently feel the left lane is their personal Indianapolis.

This is true. It needs to be enforced in a much stricter fashion. Slow driving in the passing lane is one of the most dangerous driving habits.

Drivers in SD don’t camp out in the left lane. They actually know how to drive properly. Pulse the speed limit is 85 most of the way through I29 and I90

Absolutley. People get out in the left lane then get on facebook and set up camp at five under.

I think phones should be disabled over 5mph.

It’s already the “law” so to speak, nationally, even if there isn’t a specific criminal penalty for blocking the fast lane. Interstate highways are designed for you to drive in the right lane and to pass in the left lane.

The fact that people can obtain a driver’s license without understanding this shows what a total waste of time and money driver’s licenses are.

It should be a federal crime punishable by the death penalty.

No! That's insulting to women in SUVs and Texans in general.

Sounds like seatbelts, airbags, helmets, and a whole lot of stuff the word "national law" should not be applied. You should, however, be allowed to wave obscene gestures and hold up insulting signs. Is there a national law requiring sky divers to have parachutes

It is wise that all should use them but it kinda rankers my kidneys and a few other organs every I hear that word. It is not the federal government's job to protect us from our own stupidity.

The more the Feds get into our lives, you and your wife will have to wear elbow pads and mouth guards on your honeymoon.
