I rode the big shot in the late 90s. You go from 3.5 Gs on the way up to zero on the way down. It gives you a tingly sensation to say the least.

I rode the last one in the video called The Big Shot twice (back to back) in ~2001. I'm not fond of heights but for some reason that didn't bother me too bad. At that time the other ride at the top of The Strat was a roller coaster called The High Roller that circled the perimeter off the observation deck on The Strat....I refused to ride it.

The spaceshot thing straight up at night was freaking awesome to see the strip lit up

I got a lot more afraid of heights after 9/11. That just messes with my head thinking about having to make that decision.

Rode it years ago. Got off the ride, they offered to let us go again. I passed.
Most certainly wouldn’t go now years later as old as it is.

Took the wife to the Top of the World restaurant a while back, great meal / night and great views of the strip and the desert.
Back then they had bungee jumping, it was crazy having a 5 course meal while people were jumping off the roof every so often and going past the windows.
Looks like they still have it:

I’m not afraid of heights, I’m afraid of my goddamn luck.

Same thing has happened to me. I was never afraid of heights, then suddenly, one day, my gut clenches standing on top of a tower. Same thing ever since.

I can get past the hight, but not my distrust of poorly maintained carnival rides operated by a high school drop out, high on an unknown substance, who i wouldn't trust to ride me in a pedicab.

Did this with my FIL (RIP) twice back in the mid 90's at night. Awesome to get shot up the needle overlooking the lighted skyline. We had a blast and I'll never forget that crazy moment.

All those are a pass for me

Like Nate Bargatze said. He is riding a Ferris wheel that two hours ago was driving down the interstate.

That tower is over 1100 feet in the air
That is irrelevant except for the psychology because once you get over 60 feet and definitely 80 feet up an unrestricted ground fall is almost certainly going to kill you. The main difference is the terror of the realization you are going to die just lasts a few seconds longer.

I walked from the mirage to the stratosphere because I was there for a conference and was bored. 2 miles of nothing but blight between mirage at the strat. Seemed gimmicky to get in line to go on the rides. Ate at the restaurant and it was decent.
That's all I got. I got the feeling the strat may be next in line to be blown up and rebuilt as something else.

Nope. Stratosphere will give them free buffet tickets for life.
Younger me would have found that a very acceptable offer.

I sat in the front row when I rode the little coaster that dumps you over the edge. It was somewhat exhilarating, I guess.

I rode it with my kids in 22, we rode them all
I think they were 12 and 10 at the time
ETA: I did sky jump about 10 years ago

We did the same but from Fremont St. The Strat looked like it was about 5 blocks away.
It was not.
It was DEFINITELY not.
