I’m buying a home in Mandeville and the lender has set me up with sagesure. I’ve never used them before. State Farm, who I use now, won’t insure a house below I12.

I use them. Never had a complaint and it has consistently been the best value for the coverage I want for the past several years.

You are likely through federated National

It’s much like any independent insurance company operating in the state, you’ll hear some good some bad. I would feel comfortable enough to insure my home through them

They are credit based and good credit is their market. With huge discounts for this it is likely the case that they are the cheapest premium by a good bit if you hit that niche. So if you choose to go with someone else, be prepared for the possibility that the next best company as far as premium could be a couple hundred to several hundred dollars more a year than the quote you have

Ask your lender if you can speak to the agent who quoted you directly because you want to ask him some insurance related questions. He will be your insurance agent after all.

solid company. doesn't offer flat deductibles. can be extremely picky and selective during the underwriting and inspection process.

Had them for 4 years and their premiums were well-priced.

Filed a claim shortly before I left the house and it actually wasn't that bad. They ended up paying for half a roof when they probably didn't have to based on the way it happened.

We just changed our home and auto insurance. Two years ago, we used a broker in the same building we bought our house and thought we did pretty good.

Went with a guy with Goosehead Insurance who's from Louisiana but lives in Houston now. He's licensed in Louisiana and Texas.

Saved us $114/month with exactly the same coverage. We have flat $4,500 deductible regardless if named storm or not.

True...there are several independent insurance brokers on this site, including myself. If you have specific questions you can email me at (username)@gmail.com

That's my insurer. Thankfully no claims (knocking on wood) but premiums are fair and they had the lowest hurricane deductible I could find at 2 1/2%

I’ve been with them for two years, they are about 3 grand less than previous company. Inspection was very thorough and I agree they were pretty picky. They did try to raise the rate after the inspection but I was able get it back down with a recent appraisal I had. Yearly premium increase has been less than others, but it has only been two years. Mine includes some home warranty coverages, but I have not used it or had any experience with any claims with them.

I have no complaints beyond them trying to raise the premium on me. I’ll probably stay with them another year before I get my agent to shop around again.

Check their A M Best rating to confirm they are solid.

Understanding how and where insurers write businessis a big part of the game.

Companies that are 30 or 40% higher here in Baton Rouge ofyen tend to be some of the cheapest in the Shreveport area.

If a carrier has too much exposure in a particular area, they may just raise premiums to a level that's extremely profitable. If the client chooses to go with someone else, they are ok with limiting exposure. but if they go with that carrier, carrier makes a boatload

I have my auto with Geico and they wrote my homeowner's policy through SageSure. I have had it for less than a year so I can't speak to any real experience. But the price is right for the coverage I have.

I switched from State Farm to GEICO when my kids started driving. Had been with SF for more than 20 years and they increased my auto premiums significantly. The agent basically shrugged when I questioned him but he later reached out when I cancelled auto.

Pissed me off when he chuckled while he said my HO was going to increase by losing the bundle discount and wipe out whatever savings I thought I had gained.

So moved HO to SageSure/FedNat via GEICO. Happy with service. Although be sure to scrutinize your coverages. The initial quote was significantly higher than SF but used a recent appraisal to right size the coverages.

Saving nearly $1K per year even with 2 teenagers driving.
