In 1995, Jenny Jones had a segment in her show in which she would surprise her guest by bringing out their secret admirer. Imagine the chance to see the hot girl from Math class walk out and admit that shes had a crush on you for a year.
Or
Imagine being Jonathan Schmitz at 24 years old. You tell all your friends that you're going to be on national television and you can't wait to see your secret admirer.
Then HE walks out. Scott Amedure, 32, a friend of Schmitz, revealed he was romantically interested.
Schmitz, who said he wasn’t gay, fatally shot Amedure in Lake Orion three days after the taping. He then turned himself in to police, saying he killed Amedure because he was embarrassed on national television. He was sentenced to 25 to 50 years for second-degree murder.
Schmitz, now 47, was granted parole after a March hearing and is scheduled to be released. The episode never aired but clips were shown on news shows.

Back then being gay was frowned upon.
Now it makes you a hero

That would have been pretty fricked up back in the day. Today though, you'd be crucified if you didn't switch to being gay after someone came out to you on national TV

But why kill the guy? Shouldn't you kill the bitch that set you up to be embarrassed?

Is it ironic that he killed a guy for wanting to have sex with him then spent twenty years having sex with guys

Shoots gay admirer, goes to prison full of gay admirers. I don't think he thought that through.

On May 7, 1999 a jury found The Jenny Jones Show and its maker, Time Warner, Telepictures, liable for the death of Amedure, and awarded his family $29.3 million.

Young baw would be sitting on stage telling everyone how much he loves his long time girl friend only to find out, shes not a she.

Me to...
That was the hey day of talk shows, Jenny Jones, Ricky Lake, Sally Jessie Raphael, Carnie Wilson and even Rosann Barr had a talk show.
They were all trying to outdo each other... But Jenny Jones was the worst... That one show basically put the end to her useless career...
