Has anyone ever passed this exam without going to Law School ?
Or is it a requirement ?
just curious.

But in all seriousness I don't believe the LASC will let you sit without attending an accredited law school

One tried and lost. But he eventually passed the bar exam and went on to be a judge.
From the decision:
The petition here seeks damages in the amount of $1,000,000.00 from Southern University, its President, G. Leon Netterville, State Superintendent of Education, William J. Dodd, Louisiana State Board of Education, Governor John J. McKeithen, and the State of Louisiana . The claim is grounded upon the proposition that the plaintiff enrolled in that university's College of Liberal Arts and its Law School in reliance upon its competency to provide him adequate professional training to pursue a career in law. It further relates that upon receiving a Juris Doctor degree from that institution, and again relying upon the training received and that degree, he took the Louisiana State Bar examination on three occasions, which he failed each time, much to his embarrassment and personal detriment. He further alleges that his failure was caused by his inferior education which was deliberately and intentionally offered at Southern University to deprive himself, and other students there, of an education equal to that offered by other state universities. The petition also states that the various defendants knew or should have known that the education offered by Southern was faulty and inadequate and that the petitioner would be at a disadvantage by pursuing it.

So was the year 2000 the only year where no one was required to pass the bar exam ? If so, I guess before hiring an attorney, we should ask when they graduated ? It’s hard to believe that there was no requirement to pass the bar that year.

Come on Southern get your shite together. On a side note has Tulane been slacking to Loyola over the last few years? Bar passage rates is not exactly something I keep up on, but every time it pops up here it seems like LSU and Loyola are the top two.

Don't know about LA but most states have had some multiple choice (MBE) for decades
“Which of these is the least right
answer?”
“Are three of these four answers kind of right or are two of the four kind of wrong?”
Frick you MBE, that’s which one. You spend a fortune on prep courses just to be taught how to play the game of the test.

In the last decade or so, Loyola has really been focusing on bar prep. Professor Suzy Scalise has done a superb job of preparing Loyola law students for the bar exam.

Where's Tulane? Something like $65k I think.
Only benefit I can see is living in NOLA versus BR as a twenty something looking to have a little fun.

Keep in mind not all Tulane grads intend to practice in in La thus not all take the LA exam.

And Louisiana civil law is optional at Tulane Law so not all of their students take the LA courses, but some of them decide to sit for the LA bar at the last minute so they're basically like people from an out of state law school when they do, having to teach themselves Louisiana law during bar prep.

That's an improvement for Southern for the first timers

Cleo didn’t pass until his final try and Jeff Landry just awarded him a Congressional seat. But then again, they are fellow alums. Along with former Governor Mike Foster, and possibly his son (not sure about him)
