"author"

quote:

A writer’s personal essay explaining why she plagiarized portions of what was to have been her debut novel was removed from a literary website on Monday after the essay itself was also found to have included plagiarized material.

quote:

Her novel, “The Leaving,” had been scheduled to publish this summer but was canceled after she disclosed the plagiarism to her publisher, Riverhead Books, in December. The book was about a young, Black woman’s unexpected pregnancy....
Ms. Bello said she had never been pregnant and had sought out richer descriptions of pregnancy online.

Then she stole her essay from the author who runs website Plagiarism Today!

quote:

Jonathan Bailey, the author of the website Plagiarism Today, wrote on Monday that Ms. Bello’s essay “included poor paraphrasing without attribution of an article that I wrote over a decade ago.”

Without reading the NYT article, did the publishing company give her an advance on the book? If so, will they make her pay it back? Or would they be contributing to systemic racism by asking for their money back?

What is the deal with everyone getting septum piercings? Is there a non-aesthetic purpose? Some pleasure nerve?

And in true Inception fashion, I’m sure the articles detailing this are also heavily stolen from elsewhere as well.

Not sure but I am tempted to go dig up a 9V every time I see someone with one.

Literally the last person she should've stolen work from.

These type of frauds set black people back time and time again. I'd be pissed if I were a non-thieving black person trying to make my way and these idiots just in the fray.

I, as a puny human, have some advice for you, puny human. You should not speak ill of and compare the young of such creatures, should they exist, to this plagiarist as they might take offense.

Buying that book is like living in NYC and buying a book about tall buildings. Skip the book and just walk outside.
