I first met Steve in the mid-80's. From 10 feet away he looks identical today to how he looked back then.

I would not be surprised to learn that he was the subject of a successful USL human cloning project. He can seemingly be at five different bars/restaurants simultaneously.

Andy Jack's, and every other place on that strip in it's heyday, to me that was a better place to go to Mardi Gras than NO when I was at LSU

Cock of the Walk was not where Mazen Grill is... it was further towards Maurice, and in the opposite side of the street. It had a moat around it, and you had to walk across a bridge. It burned down mid ‘80’s.

Mazen Grill was a catfish joint, before it was a wild game restaurant, but not COTW.

I went and partied in all of the bars and clubs mentioned, hung out at the shady teen neighborhood hangouts like the bomb shelter on W. Bayou and The Doobie Tree, but my most fond memories were from the very early 80's. The Mall, Cafe Beignet, Roller City, Quarter Til, Micro Speedway, etc.

Before the drama of Jr. High and later life, I just loved to go into early 80's video arcades and blast off into vidiot nirvana. The sound of an arcade with all of the games either being played or running their test patterns is my personal happy place.

Z cavarrici pants and a turtleneck with a gold chain on the outside of the neck. A Lafayette staple for well over 15 years.

You could rack up on all this at Cyd’s in Maurice!

Langlinais poboys when they were still making their bread in their store on Congress.
Quarter shots happy hour at French Quarter off of The Strip.
Long Island Ice Tea Thursdays at Andy Jacks.
Pep Rallies in The Keg parking lot.
French Fries at The Brass Rail.
Drinking with the Vietnam vet bikers at The Swamp Fox.
Killing time looking at the tropical fish at Pier One Imports before seeing your movie at The Plaza.
Watching blacksploitation movies at The Jefferson.
T and A movies at the Showtown Drive Inn.
Boudin/Sausage PoBoys at Comeaux's near campus (Langlinais bread, link of boudin spread on one side, Jack Miller's on the other side, sausage in the middle).
Curly Fries at Dave's Top Hat.
Buying concert tickets at Raccoon Records.
Mardi Gras when all of the parades were downtown.
Riding bikes to movies at The Pat, The Jefferson, and The Center Cinema.

Pregaming at LaFonda’s

LaFonda's is hands down the most overrated place in Lafayette. It's incredible how long that place has survived on above average margaritas and fried rabbit.

I got "lost" in the mall when I as about 4. My aunt didn't keep a close enough eye on me and I went to see the puppet show. After that, I went to what became Dillard's (Godchaux's maybe?) to ride the escalators, which is right where they finally found me, riding up and down and chatting with the other commuters.

haven't been there in ages, food was never great but it was a fun place to go around happy hour for drinks and appetizers, before dinner
