Why does it take an EO to do this? Couldn’t he just tell the department heads to end work from home in an email? But I guess then he wouldn’t get to act like Trump.

I was at a state agency from 2022 -2024. I can tell you firsthand that the people at home did next to nothing. There were unbelievable back logs.
This may not be the case in the private sector because you are forced to be productive, but in the public sector, it's hard to get these turds to do a damn thing from home.
This is Louisiana. A good portion of the state employees do next to nothing in the office as well.

State government workers were mostly low quality before Covid also.

Anyone know if this applies to LSU staff? Not just a guess.

It seems like remote work would work out just fine if the supervisors actually monitored the employees and gave them tangible, objective goals that they have to reach.
IT just has to look at your logs real quick to see if you are working. Just takes a second

Now that that department is back in the office, they are mysteriously caught up.
The least shocking thing you will read today. WFH is the biggest scam in human history. Get their arse back into their cubicle

Vote Landry out. He's an absolute embarrassment. If you're a republican, you need to punish him for the consistent government overreach
I can’t vote for a Democrat

State buildings aren't losing money when they're not full.
Of course they are. LED is about to move from the LaSalle building to the IBM building, and one of the primary reasons is because the rent is cheaper in the IBM building

It’s important to note that this only applies to departments under the Governor. Other departments under other elected officials can do as they please.
It won’t be completely terminated as he’s given the Commissioner of Administration until 5/15 to come up with new limitations and guidelines. I could be wrong but I believe the Civil Service handbook guarantees civil servants a flexible working arrangement. Not sure if that means anything.
I will also say, I sat in a meeting yesterday with stakeholders in BR and they are excited about the “return to work” especially in the downtown area because it means more business for restaurants but there is concern about traffic issues.
I personally think this is Landry’s way of trying to cut the state workforce without actually cutting it. Between this order and the hiring freeze, he’s trying to force people to quit and go private sector.

Just another reason to move out of Louisiana

Most of the Republicans in the primary were more conservative than him (I mean in a traditional low spending/freedom conservative, not a grifter who arse kisses the president to make himself seem "conservative").

Eliminate the lavish pensions next. Move them to a 401k.

And yet they're about to offshore a bunch of IT worked.
And it ain't in Grand Isle...

Yep, he wants people to leave without having a layoff.

Are these politicians ending remote work because it’s proven that being in person is more productive or is it just to make feel-good political statements?
When my company added an extra day in the office, they told us it was because of some vague client focus group-esque council wanted us to meet in person more...the thing is, we hadn't heard abthat we had not heard about before and haven't heard of since.
I think the real answer was that offices were sitting empty too often and the company wanted to get its money's worth.
However, when you make up some vague, ridiculous-sounding excuse for reducing remote work that has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the work being done, it leads to malcontent amongst employees.
I think being open and honest with employees might lead some employees to be upset, but we would be able to better understand and, ultimately, get over it if we were just told the truth.
And it's so funny because a higher-up just showed data for how many in-person versus remote meetings we've had with clients, and despite us being in the office more days a week now compared to remote days, clients are still scheduling more remote meetings with us than in-person meetings.
It's like, huh, so maybe this mysterious "council" wasn't right after all...
