I inspected a few DR homes after the hurricanes in SWLA. They put interior sheetrock under the vented soffit as a fire retardant.

For one, they make a sheetrock product just for this purpose. DR wasn't using it and also if you do this you still have to make sure the house has proper airflow into the attic. These didn't as the soffit vent was 100% blocked. The ridge vents aren't going to do much to cool an attic and keep moisture out without soffit ventilation introducing airflow.

Jesus. Amateur hour. Just install Hardi soffit material and be done with it. Better yet, go with spray foam insulation and seal the entire envelope, but that's a whole other discussion.

If the houses were built to code and inspected by relevant local authorities I’d predict Horton won’t be on the hook for much if they have any kind of decent lawyers with the argument they seem to be basing the class action on.
This issue is if they knowingly continued to install equipment that they were aware was failing or causing mold growth.

I've had Bell Mechanical work for me before. You talk about an incredibly shitty contractor. I fired them after 2 months, just pure garbage

My father in law used to be a house builder. He was talking about this story this weekend. He said when he was building, Horton was notorious for closing up the framing without even checking humidity levels of the framing just to get them done as quickly as possible.
What? Closing up the framing? You mean sheathing or Sheetrock?

Look the issue in this case is faulty AC practices that were actively growing mold.

It's always humid in South La though, that's kind of a dumb statement to say they don't check humidity levels before hanging Sheetrock.

Do you think it's not going to change the second someone opens a door?
