LEAP SCORES INCREASE FOR SECOND YEAR IN A ROW

Looks like the state of Louisiana had a good year and improved for the most part in LEAP

Of note, Ascension moved to the top of the list, passing Zachary for the top spot. Zachary fell to number 4 in the state. Good job Ascension baws

Excerpt from the Adovcate

quote:

School districts in the capital region continue to occupy the top four spots in state rankings on LEAP standardized tests, but Zachary declined over the past year, allowing districts in Ascension, Central and West Feliciana to jump past Zachary, according to results released Wednesday.

About time limiting free thought and critical thinking skills in lieu of teaching a test pays off for us.

Turns out being in person actually improves outcomes over zoom.

It's almost like kids learn more when they attend school with teachers rather than virtual learning on Zoom.

I know the state is still ranked pretty low, but this is at least some encouraging news.

Very nice especially since it includes donaldsonville schools which really hurt the average

Do they have a ranking of the top scoring schools in the state available, or is it just by districts?

Believe it or not Donaldsonville does NOT have the worst one in the parish.

Percentages can be manipulated so much that’s a very broad statement 75% of districts improve.

Improve in what? The sub groups?

Did they change the test or scoring methods to make it easier?

1) same old test
2) improved vs Covid scores
3) 2025 is going to be a blood bath when basic scores don’t count anymore.

I believe it’s the percentage of students in the district who scored “Mastery” or “Advanced”, which are the top 2 categories

My students used to be at about 80% mastery or advanced, and if I had any unsats, I was pissed. Now, they are at 50% mastery or advanced and 10% unsat. They just do not give a shite anymore.

I went read. It’s with the “Proficient” ranking and 2pts. Very misleading, as I thought.

Like Coach said, wait til the do away with “Basic”.

For years “Approaching Basic” was ok and that was obtained with like a 50% if my memory serves me correctly.
Someone can shed more light on that.

Devil's advocate - was the LEAP test dumbed down like many other things in education lately?

They pushed the LEAP hard last year, then the last month they did absolutely nothing. No learning whatsoever.
