Delware North has one of the two major concession contracts at the airport (the other being HMS Host) and has been there since the new terminal opened just before Katrina. They license a number of concepts in food, beverage and retail, but they own and operate all of the ones in their control.

Despite this beautiful terminal, Delware North is somehow a worse concession than Aramark at LSU.

I've mentioend before that the Chic-Fil-A at the airport, run by them, is without a doubt the worst CFA in the county. Consistently out of food, long lines, and definetly none of their emoloyes are taking any "pleasure" in serving customers. After trying to eat ther a few times while waiting for a plane to depart, I now avoid it.

I flew out last week with the family. The kids wanted CFA so they went there. I refuse, so I decided I would get some pizza to go at Midway Pizza which is in the same area of the airport. This is at 6 pm on a weekday.

Walk over. First sign of trouble... they are run by Delaware North. Also, they are not taking to-go orders, only sit down orders.

Wife and I walk in, take a seat. 10 min before someone arrives to tell us that they currently are not serving any pizzas or salads (yes, no pizza at a pizza place), and only have four sandwiches to choose from. Walks away.

I decide I will get a muffaletta. So does the wife. Another almost 10 minutes pass (we are at an airport, remember, not exactly the place for a long dining exeprience) before the waitress comes back. Place our order. She then says, oh, we don't have any muffalettas either. We get up and walk out.

Kids had their food by this point, so we walk to our gate. Then decide to grab something else, so happen upon Dook's Burgers. Also owned by Delaware North. Order a burger, a chicken sandwich, fries, and two drinks. Cost is over $50 (whatever, it's airport prices). Wait approx 20 min for our food. During that time, I decide to sit and wait at a pub table at MoPho which is next to the ordering spot for Dook's Burger. MoPho (also run by Delware North) has approx 40 seats, and 2... two... were taken. A MoPho / Delware North employee walks up and tells me I can't sit there, as those spots are only for dining customers of MoPho. I look around, tell her it does not look like anyone needs this spot, and I'm just waiting for my food from THE SAME COMPANY (Delware North). She says if I don't leave she will call security!!! Whatever, I get up.

We get our food and head back to the gate to eat.

My chicken sandwich was ok... nothing great, again, airport food. My wife's burger was burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. I tell her to bring it back, she says she has no desire to go back to that place, throws her food away, and then decides she will get a wrap from Chic Fil A (remember... also run by Delaware North).

She comes back a few min later with a salad from CFA. Out of wraps. Opens up the salad. Lettuce is wilted, chicken has a bad smell to it.

It truly takes special talent to suck at so many different concepts in one location.

I guess like LSU and Aramark, as long as the government agency is getting their check, they could care less about the customers.

You can build a nice airport but the employee pool in NOLA will always be lacking

So you previously knew about this company and their terrible service but brought an entire family to the airport hungry on purpose?

Sounds like a dad fail

It's the people that work there.

I remember coming back from London to MSY and you knew you were home. Trash cans overflowing everywhere and all the TSA people are obese.

Everyone likes to get there super early and we could not leave before a certain time.

And I honestly thought the problem was not as wide spread.

I know better now.

He's been dead for a few years, but I think he has family that were partners in this deal to get Delaware North the needed DBE credentials

Can’t be true. MSY has been voted the best airport in the US for at least two years and running.

I just landed at MSY. Haven’t flown in here for a couple of years now. It’s shiny, but there’s something to it that’s heavy. Depressing. I don’t know man, my vibe has been off since I stepped off the plane.

As for the food service, I believe their position is “frick you, you don’t have any other choices”. I wonder how they were awarded the contract. Certainly nothing crooked, right?
