It’s the Hollywood playbook now. Just take an established character and change the race, gender, or sexual orientation. I don’t mind that as long as the straight white man be on the receiving end of it every now and then. So a white dude as Blade or Storm would do.

Some of these established comic characters are so old they have been rebooted/retconned by almost every scenario. Luther was probably a minority in one of the various Superman comic reboots

Well they've never been able to cast a white actor to do a decent version of him. Maybe a black guy will be able to.
