Louisiana Lemon Law

Have a 6 month old less than 10k miles 2024 Yukon AT4. I know, go me…
Had some error codes pop up and brought to dealership. They have had it for over a month now with no idea whats wrong.
After two weeks called GM and made a case number. They suck at communication and now I have had a rep change and hung up by new one.
Really don't want to get lawyers involved but…
As I have tried to find out, seems La law says 45 days in shop is the trigger but not completely confident that is the only option.
Any one have any similar experience and if so, what did you do from here?

Aren’t the error codes supposed to tell them what is wrong? You might want to think why they might know what’s wrong and don’t want to tell you. Are they trying to run out the clock so that something won’t be covered by warranty? Are they waiting for parts to come in? Something doesn’t sound right.

What were the error codes and what have they tried to do to repair the vehicle? Honestly, dealerships are slow as hell with their service work…warranty work in particular because they know you won’t go somewhere else.

The legal term is Redhibition and it is worth looking up the requirements first

It looks like it changed some since I had to deal with it 20+ years ago but that way i read it is 4 attempts to fix or 45 days in the hole. I thought it was 3x and 30 days but this was also 2001 when I LL a Acura CL.

The $80,000 version only last about a year max.
You have to get the $100,000+ version if you want it to last the life of the loan (fine print says that relates to the 36 month option)

As long as you have documented proof that it’s in the shop for over 45 days, that’s all you need.
Gonna have to have a lawyer cause the company is gonna say no out the gate so you are gonna need someone that can go through the legal side of it and make it happen

cantact fred pharris in pineville. he was the only lawyer willing to take my case at jeep.
i ended up not using him. i kept fighting jeep for almost 2 years but i got what wanted plus some. In Hide site was it worth a 2 year battle. most likely not.

Seems like the obvious first questions to ask.

I had this issue on a 2020 Ram 1500 Rebel when my start button went unresponsive, I couldn't turn it off. They ordered another one, which didn't exist yet. So they set a time limit to get it, or give me a new truck on the spot. They ended up getting it, and replacing it. No issues since. The dealership should have communicated that to you. If they can't fix their own damn error, lemon law kicks in. Get a lawyer if they won't talk to you.

Contact Duck Law Firm in Lafayette. I sued Ford over a shitastic 2020 Explorer that lived in the shop. I had to give some in depth details over the phone and they said it sounded like I had a case. They took it to court and got a 20k settlement (they took 8k). It lasted around a year but it was extremely easy and they take care of the court stuff.

Did the dealership give you a loaner car?

Only after I made a case with GM. Basically two weeks after brought in. Not even close to the vehicle we brought in but way better than walking.
