Don't like women but too scared to be openly gay? Be a priest.

It's time for Catholicism to swirl the drain

The bozos are out there trying to imitate Peter, who they think was the first Pope, but forgot to read the verse that tells you Peter was actually a married man.

If you are a Catholic and you are Gay, you are supposed to seek God's grace and mercy as you bear this heavy burden of never acting on your sexual desires for same sex people.
I cannot imagine what a heavy burden this must be.

Now that homosexuality is more mainstream and accepted, you have a shortage of young men seeking the collar.
Correct in that this has resulted in less gays entering the priesthood, it is not the sole cause of the shortage of priests, while true, low birthrates, and spiritual decline across the world, are all contributing factors.
Pope Francis even said it was kind of ****y around the Vatican. I suspect the curia to be worse than the dioecian bishops.

I don't think belief in the concept of "gay people" is really compatible with Catholic theology. Think about what it really means: that some people are born attracted to the opposite sex, and that these people are "gay" (whether they admit it or gratify their same-sex lust or not), and that the only authentic way for them to live their lives is to engage in simulated sex acts with people of the same sex. Otherwise they are a "closeted gay."
My own beliefs are compatible with Catholic theology as I understand it. I believe that all people are born with some potential for same-sex attraction. Some cultivate it, and some indulge in those acts that gratify their same-sex lust (which therefore increases), and others do not. Ethical people reject these urges and don't act on them, much as they resist other sinful urges, like the urge to steal or to commit violence.
A "gay person" in my mind is a person who 1) subscribes to the un-Catholic view of homosexuality I outlined in my first paragraph; and 2) either identifies as "gay" or participates in so-called "gay sex" (a designator I would call un-Catholic, but we all know what it means).
I seriously doubt there are many Cardinals for whom both 1 and 2 are true.

A few gay men at the local seminary doesn’t mean that the vast majority of senior leadership throughout the Church (cardinals) is mostly gay men.

It doesn’t prove it, but it makes it probable, imo.

You've way overthought this.
1. Some people have same sex attraction.
2. Acting on that by engaging in gay sex stuff is sinful.
3. Clergy are called to celibacy no matter what they're attracted to.

That's more concise than what I wrote, which is not a bad thing.
In your mind, though, what is a "gay person" to a Catholic?

From what I know about accessions to the Seminary, the prospects who apply for admission are interviewed about whether they have homosexual tendencies and they are told that they are disqualified if they fall into that group.
So, if a recent Seminarian is indeed a homosexual, than that individual has lied to the Admissions Officer and committed fraud on the Church. Such an individual is going to Hell not because he is a homosexual, but because he has told a Lie to the Holy Spirit.

It's an imprecise term that has baked-in assumptions, being that the "gay person" is living a gay lifestyle.
I think person experiencing same-sex attraction is preferred since it doesn't presume immoral acts, and isn't inherently sinful.

While there is a difference between homosexual acts and being gay this is a problem because so many gays were recruited into the priesthood just after VII.
It was intentional to try to destroy the church from within.
