I need a new pair of steel-toe boots for work. They need to be lace-ups. I am an engineer so they don’t need to be particularly durable or rugged. My last pair we]as terrible, so comfort is a priority with these.

The most comfortable steel-toed work boots often vary based on individual preferences, job requirements, and foot shape. However, some highly recommended brands and models known for their comfort and durability include:

1. **Timberland PRO 6" Pit Boss**: Known for its comfort, durability, and slip-resistant outsole.
2. **KEEN Utility Men's Pittsburgh Steel Toe Work Boot**: Offers excellent arch support, waterproofing, and a comfortable fit.
3. **Caterpillar Second Shift Steel Toe Work Boot**: Popular for its rugged construction and comfort.
4. **Thorogood American Heritage Moc Toe**: Made with quality materials and offers good arch support.
5. **Wolverine Overpass 6" Composite Toe**: Provides a comfortable, flexible fit with durable construction.

It's essential to try on different models to see which one fits best for your specific needs and comfort.

I prefer Thorogood round toe. I can't wear moc toe boots, much less moc toe steal toe. Thorogoods come pretty well broken in, which can't be said for Redwing and others.

Timberland Pro Titan. Sole is almost like a tennis shoe. I’ve been wearing them for almost 15 years

They have to be boots?

I have the Caterpillar "tennis shoes" - they're great.

I had some steel toe Doc Martens (slip-on boot) - those things were like walking in orthopedic boots.

Yes, they have to be 6” laceups.

I have heard the doc martins are the most comfortable, but I don’t see them in laceups.

I got a pair of timberland lace-ups after several pairs of cowboy style slip ins from Ariat and Justin and the timberlands are far superior.

Damn shame Dr Martin doesn't make the round toe slip on anymore. Those were the best.

Thorogood American Heritage Moc Toe are all I wear now. I have worn just about every brand imaginable during my time in the field but my thorogoods are broken in and I can walk in them all day.

Company policy or personal preference?

I've been using these for 10 years.
Redwing

ETA: Read further down you say they have to be laceups. These are still some good boots though.

Timberland Pro model number 26078.
I have been wearing them for 20 years in a paper mill.
Concrete, pulp, black liquor, lime, etc.
They are comfortable and hold up well.

I have redwings with the BOA fit cable ratchet system instead of laces. They're pricey but worth it imo. I'm on my second pair in about 10 years. Very comfortable and lightweight. I'm in a similar work situation so I don't use them daily. Before this I always had pull up boots. Ariat, wolverine and other redwings. These are far more comfortable than any pull on I ever had.

I’ve been wearing steel toes every day for 20 years. I’m currently two years into a pair of Doc Martens and they are some of the most comfortable and durable boots I’ve worn

I’ve worn a lot of different steal toe for years. I’ve worn twisted x for the last 5 years. I recently switched to thorogood and absolutely love them the jury is still out on how long they will last but right now I’m very happy.
