frick no. This is very wrong.
They might think they're doing heroin or oxy, which isn't much better, but fent is there because it's cheaper and stronger for the manufacturers and dealers. Vast majority of addicts do not want fent.

Your typical college kid isn't running around doing fentanyl.
Not intentionally, at least.

fentanyl test strips
How exactly do these work? From everything you hear it only takes a extremely small amount to send you packing. Would you not have to test the entire sample, or does that small amount of fentanyl contaminate everything and subsequently trigger a positive test?

This is a good idea IMO. Good to have Narcan around in case someone consumes too much fentanyl accidentally.

It contaminates the entire thing.

Eh that’s not really true. I’d rather have heroin for sure but that’s gotten hard to find. So since I can’t get h I’ll absolutely get fent. I’m an opiate user though. If I were doing meth I wouldn’t expect fent to be in it but alas

They pass these out at a lot of places, I have a teen so I grabbed two and put them in the cabinet a while back.
I hope and doubt I'll ever use them but it's not a bad idea to keep some handy.

I know a guy whose 18-y/o daughter died from Fentanyl in cocaine that she bought in a club. He always says that she was "poisoned"...at first I thought that this was inaccurate and just his way of coping with the loss. But upon further reflection she really was poisoned by something that she did not intend to consume. You can argue that she "accepted the risk" by buying street drugs of unknown origin but it seems harsh to suggest that she deserved the death penalty for this decision. It does illustrate that a single poor decision by a teenager can have permanent consequences.

Well this is fascinating from a couple of directions.
You're an active fentanyl user? Or have you been clean for a bit?

It’s a good idea to pass out Narcan, it can save lives
This only works if there is a penalty attached. The same reason "free drugs" is creating hordes of infected in the inner cities. Narcan is great, to help kick the addiction. But if you're giving Narcan regularly, because the abuser shows no signs of stopping, then you aren't saving anyone. "Compassionate care" is neither compassionate nor caring. It's idiotic and allows the "caring" types to pat themselves on the back and say, "well look, we gave them narcan and it saved their lives, now i'm going to ignore what will happen down the road because i don't really care about any human life, just about my own selfish needs of showing others "i care"".
America claims it wants to use the European model of drug use, however, they ignore that if you are a repeat offender, your arse gets thrown in jail. California is a carrot only model. They don't use the stick.

Every college does this now. Why not? If it saves one student’s life, it’s worth it.

I don’t feel like the American public fully understands what is going on here. The Chinese people are not making this in some underground meth lab. Those citizens live in a complete nanny state. The govt watches what they see on tv, monitors their internet, knows where they are at all times, etc.
So we can determine that it’s the Chinese government making the fentanyl, dealing with the Mexican cartels, and pushing it out to the streets.
The part I’ve not figured out it why. Is it money? Is it a subversive attempt to undermine the citizens? Laying the foundation for a future war on American soil?
Yes, and the narrative would be China is getting revenge for the Opium Wars of the 19th century.
The Opium Wars
Then you need to ask yourself, is it really China doing it? Or someone else and pointing at China for the blame?

If you want the clean cut product you have to be close with the dealer.
Buying from people you dont know and especially at a club was not very bright. I wouldnt even have done that in the early 2000's.
If I dont know whos supplying to some degree, I am not touching the product.
Nowadays, I would just stay away from all that shite completely. Its not worth it. Alcohols not worth it either.

Personal choice. If they want to carry it around and take responsibility for others, that's their call. I won't be.
