It's time to put up the fence and let them police themselves

Moreno said Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s administration gave the City Council no warning that it would have to budget for the fines.

Wait, 'Toya didn't do her job? Unheard of.

City Council Vice President Helena Moreno said she was shocked to learn this week that, under state municipal pension laws, the city has lost so many officers that the Municipal Police Employee Retirement System considers NOPD “partially dissolved,” both in 2021 and 2022.

How did she not know?

What happens in NOLA literally has no impact on my current life, but even I knew this was a big problem. At least I knew enough that it really needed to be looked into.

Is your fat whore wife still taking the cruisers out for a drunken ride, chief?

Dammit I got French settlement and port Vincent’s chiefs mixed up

Point still stands.

NOPD has been “partially dissolved” since 2005 TBH.

Mitch the bitch had State Police working for him in the Quarter to cover enough shifts.

This is on Mitch, Destroya, and the architects of the collusive consent decree.

They are used to the Feds bailing them out, so they continue like it's business as usual. I heard they will be down to @ 800 officers by October.

This is happening at every Dem run big city in the US, and they are burying their heads in the sand.

They should see what the Pawn Stars will give them for a lightly used giant hair pick.

Why can't NOLA do that again? Or does Can'trell not care enough about the city to ask?

Turn the western part of the parish over to Jefferson as it originally was. Let the JPSO do the policing. Can you imagine the increase in property values?

There are some there, not sure numbers now vs then.

Part of the issue was also LSP fricking around in the FQ rather than doing their jobs.

Its well known the numbers are much lower than what they are publicizing. The 900 officers include IT, HR, security, payroll, 911 operators, traffic camera police, etc. The number of patrol officers is the real question that the media should be looking at.

NOPD regularly posts photos of officers who left returning to NOPD. I always wonder how unemployable someone must be to think returning to NOPD in 2023 is their best option.

The other three towns that partially dissolved their police – Homer, Port Vincent and Georgetown – have tiny departments of five officers or fewer, so losing one or two officers triggered a fine because it depleted their forces by more than 40%.
