Yeah I’m sure there are. I’m just hoping someone could recommend a good one so I don’t end up wasting my time on trash.

Pretty interesting battle to read about. The Germans put up a stiff resistance with the last remaining tanks/spg/88’s they had left (which wasn’t much)

I feel like this was a very stereotypical Soviet battle plan where they threw hordes of men & tanks at the well defended German positions and took catastrophic losses but eventually overwhelmed them. Iiirc a lot of the German defenders were volksturm and hitler youth

I visited Seelow last year. A small but nice museum with military vehicles outside. All Russian. A Russian military cemetery and monuments dedicated to fallen Russian soldiers. A viewing platform on a hill showing the battlefield. You can even see into Poland from the platform.

It’s amazing that around half a million artillery shells were fired in first 30 minutes. Can’t imagine how terrifying it was.

It was extremely intense fighting for 3 days. Once Russia won, they moved onto encircling Berlin

Do you think the Americans could have beat the Russians to Berlin?

The American generals did not want to lose a lot of soldiers in the street by street fighting that was needed to capture Berlin. The let the Russians do that. The Americans heavily bombed Berlin in air raids. Too many Americans would have died in heavy street fighting.

This is why I never feared the Russians during the Cold War. At Seelow, the Germans were on their last legs; no air support, limited mech/armor, supply situation catastrophic and they still killed Soviets in droves. Just stacking bodies like crazy. The Soviets without Allied logistical support would have negotiated a peace settlement long before reaching German soil.
