One Major Side Effect of Drinking Whiskey, Say Experts

While we certainly don't suggest drinking whiskey every day (moderation is key, especially when it comes to alcohol) there is at least one side effect associated with consuming the popular spirit that is enough to justify the occasional Manhattan or old-fashioned.
According to Diana Gariglio-Clelland, RD, CDE, a registered dietitian and certified diabetes care and education specialist at Next Luxury, drinking whiskey might help protect you from developing heart disease. "Whiskey contains phenols, which can act as antioxidants. Antioxidants help protect cells from damage, helping to reduce inflammation," she explains. "Antioxidants may also help reduce the risk of heart disease, which is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. MSN LINK

I've had enough in my first 36 years to where I could stop now and I should be fine.
I wont stop now.
Just sayin

Reminds me of an old SNL joke.
quote:
A study out this week indicates that women who drink tea are twice as likely to get pregnant as those who do not.
In a related study, women who drink Long Island Iced Tea are twice as likely to wake up in the back of a Camaro with sticky hair.

Moderation, I put a moderate amount of ice in my glass, or i leave a moderate amount in the bottle and drink the rest?

That's like saying jumping in a fire if you are cold may be good.
It'll definitely warm you up, it's just got a lot of bad shite that's going to happen too

Mingo, the self-appointed physiological compass of the OT. Thanks, as usual, for your great wisdom.

So when is the TD Heart Fundraiser? W need to gather fellow OTers and learn about different ways to help your heart. Like is a 12 year better than a 2 year? Does Kentucky's supplies affect the heart better?
These are the things we need to be able to share to people at the next fundraiser.

Hay for my horses,
And mud for my turtle.
