I am a Lafayette resident and unfortunately my area has seen a lot of tragedy lately. Two college students at UL Lafayette have died, three people were murdered, and a sheriff’s deputy committed suicide. Sad times in Acadiana, and hoping that these tragic events can bring the community together. Thanks for the prayers.

Every person on earth has free will. Prayers won’t stop someone from shooting someone else.

My prayer wasnt God please stop M'Fckers from shooting other M'Fckers.
It was more about opening peoples eyes minds and hearts.

Pretty much. Jeff Landry took office and the crime in Baton Rouge is worse than it was the last 2 years. Its just been a shite show.. I can't believe I voted for this shite.

And anyone who feels the need to defend him, don't try it. Everything that happens when he is in officer is his fault, that's the rules to the game. I don't make the rules, its the rules I learned from this board.

Funny that no one is blaming Monique Blanco for the increase in crime. I am no Josh Guillory fan, but he would have been eviscerated if it happened under his watch.

Is there a real increase in crime?

A troubled college kid committed a public suicide and a drug dealer killed three people under sketchy circumstances.

That’s hardly a systemic problem
