no, a man should devote his whole life to the priesthood - I’ve said this many times in this thread and gave my reasons

I’m still almost certain it’s mandatory to touch little boys to be a priest btw.
well then you’re a dumbass

Pedophiles are not necessarily gay - many married couples sexually abuse children, many married women sexually abuse children - a person’s state of chastity, celibacy and/or sexual orientation does not have anything to do with being a pedophile.

So, as I asked you in my previous post - are we just picking which parts of Leviticus to follow, or should it be all of it?

Pope Francis tenure did make me more reflective when reciting the “one holy, catholic, apostolic church”. Torn between reciting that in mass and personally disagreeing with his policies. I would love for his successor to be less political but that’s not my call.

one holy, catholic, apostolic church
this is based off of Jesus - Jesus prays for us to be one church at the Last Supper (John 17: 20-21)

The Church’s holiness is based off of Jesus’ holiness - not ours, not the priests’, not the pope’s.

Catholic as in small c catholic, which means universal - we all have the same mission - as the catholic church to make more Catholics

And apostolic because Jesus gave the apostles, with St Peter as the leader, the authority to teach and Baptize.

Those 4 tenets come from Jesus and His institution of the church, not the pope

FWIW I know someone for whom Francis's inclusiveness* was the catalyst for converting to Catholicism. She had been contemplating it for quite some time but it didn't feel quite right during the reign of his predecessors.

*She wasn't gay, Trans or anything like that. Francis just made her feel like she was welcome.

That’s wonderful. Like I said it’s not my call and I believe in the succession. Just had a lot of internal considerations during his tenure.

We get caught up in the politics because that's what our media feeds us, and that's the world we live in. But if you want to understand Pope Francis' "policies" everyone should read his last encyclical, Dilexit Nos, on the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Crazy he died exactly as predicted by the Simpsons so many years ago. I always liked him, he tried to fix the church

I would be perfectly fine with allowing priests to be married.

Same.

The Church already allows married/widowed ex-Eastern Rite and Episcopalian pastors to become priests.

Took a late tour of Vatican many years ago and our tour guide was super connected with the Vatican with her mom being the head nurse for the retired pope etc.

Her family had worked for Vatican for many generations, and she she knew everything. We were a small group so she showed us all kinds of stuff, including the spot in the garden where the Pope prayed for Kennedy or maybe with Kennedy during Cuban missle crisis, where they liked to walk in Garden etc. I ask her about Pope Francis and she just smiled and said he is an incredibly humble and Nice guy. You could tell she really liked him.

Holy Hell!

You do know that a Pope has to be a current Cardinal, right?

My prediction is the new pope will be black. I think there’s a high ranking black cardinal from Africa.

I’m probably one of the most upbeat and happy people you’d ever meet. Just can’t stand Catholicism and the cult itself .It touches a nerve that so many people turn a blind eye to all the boy touching that goes one there, world wide.

The abuse within the Church is undeniably tragic and deeply wrong, but it doesn't negate the truth of its teachings. Grievous failings of individuals do not invalidate the truth of the Church or its teachings. Jesus even knew there would be "weeds among the wheat" in His church.

There are two: the Byzantine Rite and Western Rite, and it is how services are celebrated, i.e., hymns to celebrate, chanting style, and treated as a localized variation of the same liturgical tradition.

Catholics have 24, right?

I'm going to go ahead and assume that he's talking about autocephalous churches, but that he really has no idea what he's talking about, so he's unable to express it in a manner that makes sense.

That's just me though.

While correct, I believe they would also have to be ordained a priest and bishop before they could assume the papacy.
