Francis appointed 109 of the electors, I believe. My prediction is the next Pope will be much worse.
The right answer is to elect JD Vance as the next Pope. The Western world / Christendom has been longing for a Pope that wields State power. Vance would be leader of the largest empire in the history of the world if either Trump steps down or he is elected President in 2028.
I call on future Pope Vance to launch the 4th Crusade to liberate the Holy Land from the garbage that currently fight over it. The tomb of Christ must be under the control of Christendom!

The same was true of control of the ability to have the Bible available in the common language. This was why copies of William Tyndale's translated English Bibles were burned. That was before he was strangled and also burned...
Why speak a language in which no one understands?
But having said this, the Latin mass is loved and enjoyed by many people who hold this faith and depriving them of the option to participate in a cherished tradition is a peculiar choice for a denomination which is so deeply embracing of tradition. Seems like a reasonable liberty to me.
Maybe they will bring on a wiser pope who can better serve this flock and also do right by the Word.
My prayers are for a wise and faithful pope to be selected.

Need a Maga American Cardinal if one exists.

As been said here, the electorate that put Francis in was entirely appointed by JP II and Benedict. Conclaves are fickle, and maybe the cardinals (even the ones appointed by Francis) were sick of his schtick.

Ray Burke would be the closest, but anyone thinking he'd be Trump in vestments would be sorely disappointed.
He also has zero shot.

I am Catholic and never understood the worship of priests, bishops, or popes.
I don’t feel like they worship the Pope or other human leaders of the church. They pray to the Saints but I don’t think it’s replacing God or Jesus. Simply complementing them.
This is just my observation from being married into Catholicism but not converting myself.
I’ve seen crazier worship from the swaying Protestants and their celebrity preachers.

I wonder how people interpreted the tone of my comment. The statement was a nice subjective insight into your mindset when you read it.

Yes, but would surely have called out their sin as sin. Would have forgiven the penitent and cautioned them to sin no more. But He would have not celebrated the sin in any manner.
I don’t deny any of this, and it doesn’t contradict Pope Francis’s actions here at all.

quote:As an Orthodox Christian of the one, true, unchanged Apostolic church, Papal authority is an absurd notion to our church. Rome got haughty and split from Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch, and Jerusalem, over it, so I am admittedly biased.

That said, comments like this
quote:and many others across the Catholic world regarding Francis and his, frankly, heretical remarks about universalism, hypocritical remarks on immigration (illegal entry into Vatican is a serious offense), lgbtq, and many other points of contention that Catholics have with this pope (and others of the past, too), I have one question for the Catholics (and protestant denominations who subscribe to Papal authority):
Francis appointed 109 of the electors, I believe. My prediction is the next Pope will be much worse.
If Papal authority is true — if it's worth breaking off from the other 4 Apostolic patriarchates — then aren't you having your cake and eating it too if you don't subscribe to his supreme primacy on all matters he speaks on with authority?
Meaning, if the Pope is a gift from Christ to his Church, to ensure unity and the preservation of truth in matters of faith and morals in the Roman patriarchate, then shouldn't his primacy be final and without question? But that's not what any of us see from the Catholics across the world. There are many many members of the church who absolutely do not agree with his doctrines. How can that be?
If Papal primacy is what the Catholic church says it is, then no Catholic should question it. He either has primacy or he doesn't, but if he doesn't to all Catholics, then Catholicism has a problem with one of its most central dogmas, does it not?

When did you convert to EO?

Would be nice to get a (good) Pope who is a just a little more youthful this time around. It’d be nice to get someone good and have them around for more than 10 years. It’s too big a job to start for guys who are already pushing 80 like the last two.

Since birth, I've run the gamut: One grandmother was Methodist, my maternal grandparents were Pentecostal, my paternal were/are Catholic. Growing up I'd been to all 3 many times. In my home growing up, we started off southern Baptist, ended up being Presbyterian. None had much effect, and looking around at others my age, I wasn't the only one.
Once I was out of the house, I attended SB some, then Church of Christ, until I fell into agnosticism, then atheism. Saved by grace and a mind of discernment, I came back to the faith but was weary of the lukewarm results of protestantism, and never did stomach Papal primacy well — especially seeing the sexual perversions unfold real time while her other patriarchates continued on as they did for 2000 years.
I started looking into Orthodoxy and after discovering it, I'd finally found the church I wished there always was. We've finally found home in Orthodoxy, and will never leave her. Orthodoxy now, Orthodoxy forever.

The Catholic Church needs a "course correction", and fast.
You cannot have a Pope that does not follow the Bible, all of the Bible,
You cannot have a Pope that allows gay priest to to be ordained, period.
Get back to the teachings of our savior, Jesus Christ, and how he is the only source to get you to Heaven.
Forget about the world and its political confusion. The new pope needs to pay attention to its current, shrinking, congregation, and save that first, if possible.
And yes, I was born a Catholic, and remained a Catholic for most of my life.
I didn't leave the Catholic Church, The Catholic Church left me, and I don't miss it. My relationship with Jesus Christ has blossomed, and I'm a better person for it. God Bless.

Exactly. I believe a lot of Catholics are so tied up in tradition that they miss the forest for the trees. Almost Jewish in their demanding on tradition.
