Trash or send them cash? The thread from a year ago says says to trash it but I’m curious if anything has changed. What happens if I don’t pay?

Trash it bro. They can’t do anything.

If you Research how much the ticket is for, they will know that you got it in the mail and opened it. You can't lie to get out of it.

Throw that shite in the garbage.

Call up a billboard lawyer, they’ll tell you how to fight it
But it will cost more than the ticket
But it will cost more than the ticket

Ultimately, it's your decision.
It's a civil infraction. It does not get reported to the DMV or your insurance company. An unpaid fine does not prevent you from renewing your license or insurance. It does not go against your driving record, and you can't be arrested for not paying it.
These citations are sent through regular postal mail with no tracking identification. The United States Postal Service loses thousands of pieces of mail daily.
The company behind the collection efforts is just that --- a collection company. They will send out thousands upon thousands of these citations. It's profitable for them to do so. Many people are "law-abiding" citizens, otherwise known as sheep. They will pay. This is why this scheme continues.
If you don't pay, the collection company will send you threatening letters. All by regular US Postal mail. In the city of Baton Rouge, the government does not have the authority to turn over your social security number to a private company.
And you didn't enter into an agreement to do business with a privately owned company on state and city-funded roads.
I'll let you decide.

Can we sticky this already? If traffic camera tickets were legit, OT wouldn't exist.

I know old thread, but in NOLA they have a van that scans license plates and will tow your car for failing to pay the camera ticket.

When did they start towing? I thought they only booted the car.

When I was preparing house plans and building my last house, I paid red light cam tickets. After closing on my home, I was walking to my car with my mortgage guy. I asked him, do these tickets hit your credit report or have an effect on my credit rating. He said, they do not take unpaid red light cam tickets or unpaid medical bills into consideration. He said never pay red light cam tickets. I immediately throw them away and get enjoyment out of it.

It is. Supposedly in 2023 they removed all bad medical debt which had been paid no matter the amount or how late it was, removed anything less than 12 months past due and removed anything that was an initial debt of $500. They being the 3 credit rating agencies. That being the case anything over $500 and more than 12 months past due IS still reported to them....and is still about 90% of "bad credit" on consumer credit reports....medical debt is still also the single largest factor in individuals declaring bankruptcy. Finally, it being the 3 credit reporting agencies and given their history it is doubtful that they have not found a way around these limitations or will soon. The system is designed to legitimize creditors charging higher interest rates to borrowers. It is not in any manner indicative of how a person pays their bills....a person can have a 40 year record of paying their mortgage and car payments on time, have a medical history for 2 weeks and a year later can't qualify for a mortgage and can only but a car with a rate that would make Tony Soprano ashamed of himself....that person will also pay more for insurance and rent and a host of other things despite paying every bill on time and in full for 40 years and suffering a medical issue for a couple of weeks.

In Louisiana if you don't sign a promise to pay a debt, you don't legally owe anyone anything. Period.
Chunk them
