SIAP, I didn't see anything when I, admittedly, glanced.
Longtime Greater New Orleans food critic and radio show host Tom Fitzmorris has died after fighting Alzheimer's and Dementia. He was 74 years old. His Food Show on WSMB and WWL a.m. in New Orleans started in 1988.
WDSU Channel 6 piece
Obituary from Tom's own NOMenu publication.

Great food show. He could be snarky at times, but the show was great in its prime. Toward the end, I felt it was not as current and his health declined quickly.
Does his wife, Mary Ann, still do the show?

Friend,
Not since we lost George Washington Cable nearly 100 years to the day has New Orleans lost a more influential and eloquent writer and commentator on New Orleans culture. It was my sincere hope that when they took down the Robert E Lee statue they would replace it with one of Tom Fitzmorris. There is yet time. He did more to advance New Orleans food culture than anyone in the city’s 300+ year European history. His death is a true loss for us. The Food Board is in mourning.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

Crazy, I just so happened to watch the NOLA No Reservations episode an hour ago and he made an appearance talking about restaurants recovering, sat down at Antoine’s with Bourdain.

I called into his show about Mexican food, and I recommended Panchos, and he immediately hung up on me. RIP

Unfortunately yes.
She is awful, unless your diet consists solely of French fries and club sandwiches.

His Post Katrina shows were one of the few things that provided a sense of hope to me during the rebuilding process of my home and the area. Over the years when speaking to people about that time I would refer to his show and his running count of restaurants that were open. When that trend switched from decreasing to increasing and then steadily increasing it was the first concrete sign, to me at least, that things were slowly getting better, way before we had electricity back.

Went to a few dinner club events he hosted and we also went on a Queen Mary boat cruise up the east coast up to Quebec. Always listened to his radio show and he was one of a kind. He hated restaurants with buffets! Also I don't think he ever lived downed not graduating from Jesuit and finished at Rummel where I also went to school. Not sure what happened and why he did not finish at Jesuit. Alzheimer's is a horrible disease!

Used to listen to his shows. Tried some of the places he gave good reviews to and was always satisfied. RIP.

What time and days does it come on? I know it used to air on 870 or 105.3 when there were no sports but it’s been a while since I heard it. He was on another am channel I believe as well just don’t remember it.
