having to call your bookie and asking what he has on such and such game..
I don’t know a single person that has to call their bookie to get lines.

Maybe most bookies use a website that you can use to place your bets,

I don't trust those because its being run from some island somewhere and at any time it could be shut down.
They have actual online sports books but as we are talking about bookies, the websites won’t get shut down. They just track bets, no money is actually being used through them. My bookie uses some outdated site called ebet2/ebet3

Eh, games are 100% more interesting to watch if you have money on it. A shite weeknight MAC game becomes watchable if you have $10 on the over

There are sites in which the bookie sights up to, he sets you up as a users. You deposit your money, the site pretty much does all the work. On Tuesday morning the bookie can just log in and deposit the earning from that week. The account is usually not in the US. The site takes a small percentage from the bookie.
There are some old school bookies that don't use a website, that still does it the old fashion way. And they do parlay cards as well. Which is where they make most of their money.

However New York is taxing winnings at 50%. I'm sure Louisiana will be in that neighborhood.
If LA hits me for half, I’m staying offshore.

You can wait a few more months to burn through the kids' college fund, Diamond Jim.

If it's so little that you won't miss it, why bother? If it's enough to be significant, I would find that stressful, not entertaining.

I heard January 15th give or take, which wouldn't be a surprise at all considering it's after the college football national championship. Seems like a great decision.
