Surprise! It's not Louisiana! We're not even in the top 10 of the worst states.
Top 10 Worst:
1. Georgia
2. Alabama
3. North Carolina
4. Mississippi
5. South Carolina
6. Arkansas
7. New Mexico
8. Texas
9. Nevada
10. Indiana
18. Louisiana
22. Florida
50. (best) Minnesota
Forbes
Louisiana was 6th BEST for "Quality of Hospital Care Score", but 5th WORST "Healthcare Outcomes Score". That seems odd.

Uh, if you’re anywhere close to Birmingham you have access to about the best healthcare the world has to offer.

Check outside of the Birmingham metro area. It’s really fricking bad.
Just look at how few counties offer maternity hospital services:

I'm sure 95% of this metric is a variation of diversity, equity, and inclusion metrics and has almost nothing to do with any objective measurements.
The United Nations puts out stupid studies like this all the time.
When talking about cost, they don't consider that the people in blue states that pay "less" for their healthcare eventually give it all back and more in taxes.
There's little context to the study.
Most studies that have all red states on their rankings are looking to score political points.
Yes, California has "cheaper" Healthcare, because a massive chunk of their population pays $0, but then the other part pays all the taxes+ insurance.

Is this any different in any other state, or any other place in the world for that matter?

And if you live outside of Birmingham you're forced to go to the worst doctors in the country. I could tell 100 horrifying stories about the pitiful health professionals in Alabama.

That list is such unmitigated bullshite.
The world never misses an opportunity to try to shite on our beloved South.

You get what you vote for.
Am I using that phrase correctly?

Texas being on this list is laughable.
MD Anderson brings in people from all over the world for cancer specialists.
Houston Methodist was ranked in the top 5 for best hospitals and has been ranked top in some metrics.

Fatties are bringing down the numbers.

We're all waiting with bated breath for your anecdotal B.S. stories you heard about from someone that knew your cousin. Or about how some PA was mean to you and didn't believe your Google-driven self diagnosis.

You have access to some amazing specialists. The rest of the staff/hospital/resources....not so much. That's the issue.

Hospital Marketing Departments working overtime to ensure the veil of quality over outcomes.
Just kidding…but you would be surprised at the level of care and expertise in south Louisiana. One of the largest cardiovascular groups is headquartered there. You also have Ochsner which at a time was a leading institution in certain organ transplants. You also have University Hospital in New Orleans ensuring a future doctor base to work at hospitals.
Despite all the leading advances in medical technology and talent around us, we can not help the fact that we are fatties from the way we eat. We also live and work near massive processing plants that refine fuel or process chemicals that emit waste that may cause cancer.
So no wonder the outcomes never achieve the desired result.

Your first sentence is correct. The second sentence is just plain wrong.

I doubt it. I would know first hand. Hospitals will bend over backwards to cater to specialists. The rest of the staff? frick 'em.

Huntsville seems like a great location for healthcare. Decent enough hospitals (though Huntsville Hospital owning most everything sucks) with good cardio and general care. It is pretty much equal distance from top notch specialty care either in Birmingham or Nashville. Too bad it is a shithole of an area that no one should ever consider visiting or moving to.
