Should I go 100 lbs? More? Some are 80 lbs and I feel like that would be too light.

They also have different filling in some (foam vs. other stuff). Is one better than the other?

TIA

Ask the health and fitness board. They probably have better ideas.

80lbs is plenty heavy enough

get an outslayer bag if you want a heavy bag or wrecking ball or get an aquabag if you want something easier on the joints.

as far as hanging, make sure you put a stringer across atleast 3 studs, make sure its a rotating connection. Also helps if you anchor the bottom.

I had a super duty rev gear bag that I just got rid of. It was ridiculously hard to find a hanger for it and it really needed a place with metal beams. Go lighter or get a floor model.

I have a 3 car garage and 2 cars. The 3rd port is for my shop and I've got spare room for something like this:

I had that same setup years ago (minus the speedbag). I found a "boxing rounds" type app that I used and researched and found a boxing workout that I liked, and used those. It was fun. Sadly, my workout motivation faded (as always) and I stopped doing it though.

I had that exact set up many years ago. Even with 2 25’s on all 3 side it jogged a lot. Plus the plate circumference made footwork difficult. The speed bag was serviceable, but if you’re a novice you’ll get frustrated easily. If you have the room, I’d make a 4x4 cage with 8’ 4x4’s attaching it to garage studs so it doesn’t jog. You could then mount a better speed bag to one of the 4x4’s.

Id rather a thai bag even if I were just boxing.

Invest in a row machine, stationary bike, lat pulldown, something more practical that you would likely stick with. Other than people going through a craze type moment in their lives, when was the last time someone told you that hitting the heavy bag is a typical workout?

Quality row machine or bike is a few hundred. Lat pulldown machine too. It's a garage gym, it doesn't have to be a Peloton.

If you can even get one, c2 machines are a grand each.

I can definitely recommend the outslayer bag. I've got the 100lb+ in my garage and it's the perfect weight. You can really give that bag hell and it has a nice pop and feedback to it. I previously had a $100 everlast bag and those things are just giant pieces of shite. Do not spend the money on that. They have sand bags and cloth stuffing inside that settle and turn the bag into a concrete block. Doesn't matter if you take it out and repack it the stuff just settles quick. You'll deal with that to a degree with every bag but that one was just a POS. Believe it was an everlast nevatear.

Other than that, I'd also look into a jumbo bag from NAZO. Those yellow ones look badass.

Anyway, best of luck! I started the boxing journey this year and have loved it.

Well I have a row machine and lat pulldown in my home gym and combined didn't pay a grand. They have been used regularly for 5 years now, so the quality is not in question.

Be careful with Nazo bags if you're not really serious and know what you're doing. Since you have Outslayer it sounds like you know what you're doing, so you'll know that Nazo bags are foam lined (ironically what they and Ringside call soft filled but it's the opposite of what you think). You cannot sit down on hooks and dig into a Nazo unless you have professionally tape wrapped hands. But for a great workout and using 1 2's with cardio, there is no better bag than a Mayweather GGG style Nazo 150lb bag.

I’d go With the 100 pound bag. I trust it can hold more hanging laundry.
