This is how the Sabot round turns enemies into a fine mist

The Sabot is a non-explosive tank round that consists of a narrow metal rod made of depleted uranium that penetrates armor then explodes into a spray of metal fragments.
“It liquefies everything inside,” said the soldier in the video below. “You can technically come in with a hose and hose out the enemy tank crew. It just annihilates human matter.”

And if the conditions are just right and the round goes all the way through the turret, it can even suck what use to be the crew out a hole smaller than your fist.

yeah, but then a new crew can just hop in the tank and keep going.

We should introduce this device to ISIS.

It is amazing what high speed cameras can do. Cool video.

I didn't see the same graphic for HE rounds .

Not really. It wrecks the interior of the tank, and it's only worse if the ammo on board the tank starts cooking off. When that happens we call it "brewing up". The tank becomes a blow torch at that point.

Go google HEAT round and you should find something showing how they work.

Perfect name for a tanker - Rideout

Were you a driver, gunner, loader or boss?

Unfortunately the same concept is what Iran militias used against us in Iraq in form of EFPs.

Battlefield 4 tank round of choice.

fricking awesome, I love tanks but I'll take my chances on the ground just like every other dumb 11b!

I Started out as a loader, then driver, then gunner, finally tank commander. As you go up on tank, you also go up in crew positions. By the time you're a TC, you can cover all the jobs if needed.

Sounds like a natural progression. Which did you enjoy most?

From the comments:

While this is not far from the truth, it's also not entirely accurate. The DU penetrator itself does not explode into little pieces, but rather the armor the penetrator passes through is turned into shrapnel which can cause permanent damage to the squishy things inside. As it stands, if you REALLY wanted to liquefy the crew, HEP/HESH would be your best bet.

Awesome! But why are they liquefying a family in a Fiat?

Yes, it's a progression. As to which one I enjoyed the most, that's a tough question to answer since each has things about it that make them cool. I guess being the driver was the most enjoyable. It's low stress, very comfortable, and fun as hell.
