re: This is overkill but SuddenLink doesn’t give two craps about Lake Charles

Has anybody found a phone number where you can speak with a human? Asking for my neighbor. Everyone else has service but her. Her cable is disconnected from her house and her cable is hanging from the pole in front of her house. Poor old lady can’t get in touch with anyone that can help her.

Is this some kind of rural budget internet service?

She needs to call the customer service number and have them put in a ticket. They’ll get to her next Spring.

Good luck getting anyone out here in a timely fashion if you do that. You will just be prolonging not having it even more.
Stout, I don’t even know what to call these “Suddenlink workers”? Maybe loosely affiliated as they’re all subs of subs.
I talked to one who guy who had stopped and spoke with someone in their Neighborhood that was working. They said they had no idea when anything would be restored. They get a call every AM about some random area to work all over the city. It’s not well coordinated at all, so no whole section seems to come back online at once.
Edited for word salad.

She told us that all she gets is an automated menu that tells her Suddenlink is aware of the outages in the area.
I might give it a try and see if I can get something in work for her.
Thanks

File an FCC complaint for her. That's the only thing that gets them to call you back.

Ill do that too. If nothing else, just to shove it a little further up their rear.
How is cleanup going in your area?

State lawmakers grill Suddenlink executives on response to Hurricane Laura

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - State lawmakers grilled executives with Suddenlink on the company’s response in the wake of Hurricane Laura.
Suddenlink executives appeared before the state Joint Commerce Committee during a more than three hours Friday.
Despite claims by Suddenlink that they were doing their best, it was rough going for the company officials who went before the joint committee meeting called by Senator Ronnie Johns.
“I’ve been through a lot of hurricanes, I’ve watched how the industries operate. Entergy came in with 12,000 people. They’ve still got 9,000 there. I’m not quite sure if you can do your job with 450 people.”

Thank goodness they laid att fiber lines down to our neighborhood in Alexandria...dumped suddenlink after the storm. They came up with all kinds of lies.
Told the SL supervisor ATT would give me 10$ off per month to link with my cell phone and SL dude said no they won’t, I worked for att for 8 years and that’s only if you want to bundle with tv. I was paying 125 and now paying 50, free hbo max for a year and 100$ Visa card...My att service was already installed and 10$ discount already applied when I called to cancel SL. He finally tried to price match to att 49.99 1 gig fiber for 1 year but would not listen to the fact that I already have att and told him I’m not interested. And he still didn’t believe I didn’t get 10$ off and not have to pay Equipment rental fee.
Plus lighting struck our house and our expensive internet and router that I purchased instead of sudden link crap were fried...so why would I keep suddenlink and have to buy new equipment when I already have att service installed.
Tl;dr I agree suddenlink is worst company to deal with

Complaint filed through the FCC on her behalf. We’ll see what happens next.

She should call Altice directly. She will get a live person somewhere in India probably, but maybe something will happen. Altice promised no long waits on hold, but they've got more excuses than anyone could think of as to why people don't have it.
I was following the hearing had by one of the legislative committees. Then, they met with the Altice CEO in Lake Charles. He was full of bull too. They're getting into hot water with our legislature right now. They're not regulated by the PSC, but the PSC is still keeping track of all the complaints they get and sending them somewhere. Maybe the FCC.
Number is 631-846-5317.

I’m going to be in Baton Rouge all week. If they need me to come down there and testify, I’d go do it. If it’s just a whine and complain session, I won’t bother.
There are systemic issues on the ground that need to be put on record.

You will learn to hate att. They won’t care. I have LUS fiber in Lafayette. I had a router issue once, and got someone local on the phone at 10 pm. Stayed on until issue was resolved. I hate these bloodsucking carpetbagging corporations. Make it an issue with city council when things settle down there.

I used to have bellsouth dsl for years before the merger and before I moved to east coast for 7 years.... nothing bad to say about them and everyone I spoke to worked with at installation with att were awesome here.... we’ll see, I’m not naive, they are all blood suckers but so better than suddenlink and that’s my only other option
Think Verizon fios was my favorite Years ago in dc but never able to get that again... was stuck in a cox monopoly for 4 years in Williamsburg, va... that was miserable

I am trying to divorce Suddenlink for the terrible customer service as well. Biggest frustration is the inability to ever get a human on the phone. I was supposed to get set up with DirectTV after a month long install wait that began during Suddenlink's outage from Laura and they no showed yesterday. New date? October 22. That makes sense, huh? Their tech was a no show and I have to wait 17 more days.
Hulu live, maybe? First world problems, but still....

My service was back up like 3 weeks ago and working as normal. Yesterday I get home and it is slow as all hell. Usually a speed test is around 220mbs, now its around 160mbs which should still be fine but I can't stream anything and it even takes google.com like 10 seconds to load. I do see a lot of SuddenLink trucks on the road this morning. Maybe its because they are actually working on stuff, but it makes no sense how mine technically still works but it might as well not be.
