To the guys who are done with the fertility rate: what’s a vasectomy like?

Painful? Discomfort? Any complications?

I’m planning on getting snipped at the end of May. Of course the internet reveals it’s not as safe and easy of a process and it might appear. There are quite a few stories of guys getting a vasectomy and having painful erections for the rest of their lives.

The best thing I ever did. Some discomfort for the first few days after. But well worth it.

It's not so bad. You'll be laid up for at least 24 hours so do it on a weekend when there's decent sports on TV.

told my story on here a couple of times, it really depends on the individual and if you have any issues around the jewels, I had a band of scar tissue paralleling the vas and he had to do it the old fashioned way, it was pretty uncomfortable for awhile

Shoutout to Dr. Amy Schmeeckle at the BR Clinic

I was awake during the whole thing. Took 12 minutes. Walked out with a box of apple juice.

Dr. Ross Cockrell gave me the option to be sedated. I said hell yes and signed up. Procedure probably took 15 minutes and I had a nice nap.

Recovery was pretty easy. Getting my tonsils removed at 25 was orders of magnitude worse.

It was fine.

Old hot nurse.

Doc offered nitrous oxide for an extra $250 or so.

Basically spent an hour getting bombed out of my tree listening to the light go “womp womp womp womp”

Felt like an hour. Coulda been fifteen minutes. Coulda been three days. I have no idea.

1) Probably BS
2) Don't do any physical activity for like 72 hours after the surgery, don't be an idiot, also use it as an excuse for your wife to actually take care of you, watch TV, play video games, whatever you want to do, you are taking a bullet for the team, milk it for all it's worth.
3) Repeat #2, seriously, all complications I've read about are because some moron actually decided to do physical activity, or lifted something, or just straight up something very very stupid after the surgery.

Mines sucked but it was worth it. Doc didn't give me enough lidocaine and I felt a good bit of it. He got 1 but I had to go under to get the second.

Recovery wasn't bad at all. Buy the vasectomy underwear on Amazon that holds the ice pack.

That first guilt free bust was worth all of it.

Did they let you bring in headphones? I'm not far from needing a snip, and an hour on gas and listening to some psychedelic music sounds kinda nice.

There was really only one slight moment of pain during the procedure, it was just awkward as hell. The doc is making small talk while he's slicing your nuts up.

In the end, it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

It was also complete with THE MOST awkward moment of my life - during the consultation when I had to drop my pants for the doctor to stare at it and cup my balls to ensure I was a good candidate (I really hope that was necessary lol) and then during the procedure itself, where I laid on the table with my premier holy shite package out. Knowing I was about to have my balls cut on was not conducive to my already grower not shower status, if you know what I mean

Apparently my balls don't respond fast to the anesthetic they use because he gave me the shot, then a minute or two later started cutting and pulling on the vas. I felt the pulling and it hurt. He gave me another shot. Then another. I had three shots total before I didn't feel it anymore.

The discomfort lasted two days but there's still a spot at the bottom of my left ball that's very sensitive if it's hit. I guess that'll never go away.

My bedroom is a twinkie factory now and it's great.

as mentioned earlier, I had a band of scar tissue paralleling the vas and he had to do it with a scalpel, within 24 hours my balls were as black as an eight ball and swollen to the size of eight pound bowling balls, pain was intense, next door neighbor was a doc and he said you'd better call him(it was on a weekend,) he had me meet him at his office and checked it out, gave me something for the pain, he told me he had to pull the left nut almost half way down my thigh to be able to get the scar tissue out of the way to get to the vas, that was the reason for the bruising and swelling

i had a minute or 2 of cold sweats during the procedure. Felt a vague sort of tugging on my balls. Dr told me it was very common, a natural self defense response. Went away quickly.

Adding to the other poster's #2 above, you'll have to blow several loads (can't remember how many) to clear out your plumbing before you go back for follow up jerking in a cup to confirm success. Make sure your wife is committed to the task or spank it a bunch.

Not bad at all. 3 hours post op, I attended a performance at my youngest child’s school. It distracted me from the discomfort and also instantly validated my decision to have it done.
