Topgolf will break ground this November on a new $40 million entertainment facility near the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, officials announced Wednesday (Feb. 15).
The complex, expected to open as soon as January 2025, was billed as the anchor to a new entertainment district envisioned for a parcel of land near Tchoupitoulas and Race streets. The area has been dubbed the River District by developers.

I thought the local politicians killed that to build an off brand one?

It's nice that New Orleans is finally getting one.
I hear Lafayette is getting one as well.

A lawsuit will be filed and City gets neither after the off brand runs out of money again.
The Drive Shack project was eventually shelved as well. But in November, a local investment group said they were planning to revive the project as 504 Golf.
Alex Xiao, lead partner for 504 Golf, said Wednesday that he was "infuriated" by the deal and that his group plans to object to it on the same grounds that were raised four years ago. At the time, the Convention Center board faced criticism about the process for selecting Topgolf.

Would probably do okay there. Glad New Orleans is finally getting one since that off brand one never got built.
The one in Baton Rouge has been stupid busy since it opened, even during the pandemic when everyone was freaking out about masks and what not.

The New Orleans posters already decided to hate Top Golf. Because Baton Rouge got it first and it does extremely well there.
They hate Trader Joes and Bass Pro for the same reasons.

If you want to invest money into New Orleans you have to prove your desire via community betterment projects, such as a beautiful turf soccer field for homeless encampments.

It was a poor man's Top Golf that some of the New Orleans people were trying to pimp out as an alternative.
Glad it was never built. Top Golf does very well in Baton Rouge; it's going to do well in New Orleans provided they can keep the area safe and convenient.

I'll drive an extra 45 minutes to the one in Baton Rouge before driving the 30 minutes to NOLA. That site can succeed because of the convention business if the city is willing to have a solid police presence in the area.

Yep, announced last year. USL Nola

The United Soccer League is expanding to New Orleans and plans to have a new team playing in its top-tier Championship league by 2025.
The 10-year-old soccer league, which has been operating hitherto as an informal "farm team" affiliate of Major League Soccer, now wants to start its New Orleans franchise before 2026 to take advantage of anticipated enthusiasm for the sport ahead of the FIFA World Cup tournament at U.S. venues that year. The plan is to have both men's and women's teams playing in the league's top divisions.
The preferred venue, according to people familiar with the talks, would be a newly built stadium in the River District, the $1 billion entertainment-focused development being planned on the east bank near the Crescent City Connection. That project is designed to erect housing, shops, office buildings, hotels and an array of entertainment and cultural venues on 39 currently barren acres owned by the state-controlled Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
Michael Sawaya, president and general manager of the convention center, said a soccer venue is one of many ideas under consideration, adding that it would seem to fit with the overall plan for River District. "As location is a key factor for any stadium development, the dynamics of a multi-function stadium seems to fit well with our tourist-centric model."
