Trader Joe’s is great. Low prices. Good selections.

Never been to an Aldi.

How does it compare in pricing and selections to TJ’s?

Aldi is much more bare bones that Trader Joe's but has lower prices with limited selection.

Two very different grocery stores.

Two very different stores. Yet technically both are Aldi.

Great place to go if your into yoga pants, just remember they’re almost all super liberal.

The only similarity is the size of the store.
Aldi seems to be geared more towards a lower income demographic.

I don't care for either, but Trader Joe's is much better.

The history is that the founders of both are brothers who were in the grocery business together, but had a falling out and each started their own grocery chain, Trader Joe's by one and Aldi by the other.

I shop at Aldi on occasion but some products just aren’t very good and the selection can become boring.

Aldi is hit and miss. It's a "you get what you get and you don't throw a fit" shopping experience. Very cheap and a good fruit selection. If something catches your eye grab it, it likely won't be there next time.

TJ's has the best premade frozen meal options around.

They were started by brothers.

Aldi's is like a Trader Joe's Outlet. Everything is cheaper but also expires sooner. Trader Joe's has better-looking employees and will bag-up your purchases. At Aldi's they just put it back in your cart and you're on your own from there. Despite those negatives I still like Aldi's and shop there regularly.

Aldi also owns Harvey's Supermarkets and Winn Dixie.

Trader Joe’s is really fantastic. It used to be even better in the 90s-early 2000s. . . Hope it stays as good as it grows.

Seems like a lot of their business model is negotiating store brands from high quality producers instead of the normal supermarket store brands where big food companies cut the quality in half to plug them out cheaply.

Only problem with Trader Joe's where I live is that it's always ultra crowded.

Aldi is definitely no frills but good prices for staple products, with some occasional cool unique stuff.

TJ’s is high frills and nice, and great specialty products but probably pricier for staples.

We shop at Aldi more consistently but still like to swing by TJ on occasion.

Trader Joe’s is 10,000 better than Aldi. Hell, the milfs in TJs makes it worth the trip.

Trader Joe's was founded before being purchased by the family that started Aldi, I believe (so not founded by the Albrechts)

Lower Income?

People who want to have money left over after a trip to a grocery store. Who don't need a choice of twenty different oil and vinegar salad dressings, Who make their own pizza dough.

Who don't want to visit a mega store for the eight items they need, and who may only need enough meat to feed two or three.

I have been to the Aldi's on Veterans Blvd. and it's kind of small and doesn't seem to have a big selection... Has anyone been to the Aldi's on Airline in Metairie? Is it bigger.. better selection?

Never been in an Aldi store.

Went to Trader Joe's once on Veterans, and the place was a damn madhouse. Like I thought there was a riot going on.
