I remember in the 70’s all the movies about the African killer bees taking over and killing us…

Global warming killed them.

I remember hearing the same thing in the 80's.
I thought I read somewhere that they crossbred with our native bee species and basically dropped the whole "killer" thing. But I'm probably wrong.

They're still around. As a species they aren't capable of expanding their range very far north because the Winters are just too cold for them. I think they have hybridized with the common Western Honeybee, and those hives can be a problem because they are much more aggressive.
ETA: I don't think they were really found in any numbers in the US until the 1990s.

I can vouch for their aggressiveness. And they don't just sting and go, they attach themselves to you. Ran into some in south Texas.

One of them died of a speedball in 1983

I’m still trying to figure what happened to a total conversion to the metric system and the end of the conventional light bulb.

Media bullshite. Not as important as the wing disease issue but sure did sound good for scaring people

Two prime examples of governments/regulatory bodies implementing effective strategies based on scientific understanding of a problem. fricking liberals.
